The Map-Center community has come together to release 12 new maps in a single download. The theme, or reason for this is the 25th Anniversary of Quake 3 Arena. For a video game, that is a very good milestone! Just like the 15th Anniversary Contest Map Pack, Sprony has had a lot to do with getting this release out the door.

The maps in this release range from amazing, must play releases that are a visual delight and dripping with replay value to others that seem a little bland but still gameplay focused.

The full list, sorted by author are:

The bulk of the maps are designed for either Tourney or Deathmatch and many support Team DM games. The exceptions being Porcelain (CTF only) and Quadranscentennial CTF (DM and CTF). All maps support bot game play.

A minor issue: Spike's The Fragpit Remastered (spikedm1c) is a great re-mix of the author's own previous release. In the re-mix version, there are two water traps that are very difficult to exited without self harm. A small change from water to slime / lava or a slightly shallower pool would solve this. This is a minor issue. Do not skip this map!

It is impossible to pick a favourite from this release as I kept going back to so many.

25 years after Q3A was released people are still making and releasing amazing custom maps. That is a real celebration of how strong the foundations of Q3A are. Be sure to set aside as much time as possible to play all of these maps.
