A quick note, I made a patch for this map that now supports bots (although they struggle), and also wanted to let everyone know if you play with Quake3e (I used it with OA), it supports more than five players, contrary to my previous comment. I tested it with ten total, and it worked fine.

I like this map, we played it with our family the other day, in OpenArena. However, it only allows five of us total to join. After that, the sixth person gets the bad command byte error message, and is not able to join. I suspect this is a memory error of some kind, but I don't know exactly what needs to be modified to allow more players to join. Does anyone know what I can try?

Aaa no, I forgot to increase com_hunkmegs and it does work on Hunt mod, but on the desert when Guard bots start shooting, FPS's drops down a bit

@Rebmarine (SW12), not yet, It will be available in near future, map is not playable yet, when I checked it last time with Hunt mod, it didnt load at all :>
Might be some construction error, there is much to fix also for bot support

@Camel-XP: Can I download that desert map with the stargate? Looks like it might be fun with Hunt. I think its cool someone other than me plays that mod.

Somebody ought to make a map just for the Hunt mod, making it ideal for monsters to ambush you or artefacts to be placed on pedestals or something to make them look special. Just thought I would give you some mapping ideas, since I am very inexperienced.

@CZGhost Coughs FragTastic... Coughs Lol I'm joking :P. I must agree with you Ghost, CamelXp has such amazing talent and if this castle map was supported with bot support, it would of blown Windsong Keep out of the water in my opinion.

Your Stargate level looks awesome. I must say you have a talent... There are only few mappers they do that amazing levels. Rota, EmeraldTiger, ShadoW, cityy and some others that do also nice maps...

I made a simple video in about 5 minutes just to show how does look the new map at this point, which is still alpha phase, non finished as you see, but notice improved DHD and the structures around, you might recognize some of them as I was inspired by one particular map ^^
In time map will be totally rebuilded so those images would most probably be total outdated very soon :)

@Camel-XP: That's good news... I'd like to see your new map because this one is pretty impressive with realy great brushwork and functionality. I'm impressed the stargate's realy working also with the "iris" (how's the "iris" named correctly?)...
As to the design, the lightbeams around the windows are amazing, also spaceship's impressively created. I'm embarased I haven't voted yet, so I give 10/10 - amazing work...

After a long time I decided to try one more time mapping with my stargates, this time standard map without any logos for any mapping competition or something, but a playable map luckily also with bots support, I invited my friend Insanekid to participate into making new map, we will split our work on that, each side will be made by one of us, I hope everything will goes fine and map will be fully finished soon, btw I found some old work on quake3 sg mod: www.quakewiki.net/...targate/mod.htm, but its most probably dead already ^^

This map is pretty massive. I've played it with 12 human players, and it is so fun. Even if you are not playing with other players, it can still be fun just to explore. 9/10.

Yeah. Thats a downer. :( I no longer need the handicap of bots in a map, but instead I use Monsters from the Hunt mod. I thought it would be cool to fight a Giant Uriel here.

The map worked for Quake 3 ARena, but when I tried it with the Hunt mod, it didn't work. But in ordinary Q3, it worked fine.

SW12, try com_hunkMegs to higher i.e. 512, 768 or 1024, because this map uses ultra high textures as Wolfenstein 2009 engine, if it still doesn't work, let me know.

HELP! Problem Located. When I tried playing this map using the Hunt mod, It didn't work. What happened was that I loaded the map in Either "Save the Universe", or "Free for All" Gameplays, it would load up,then return to the main menu automatically. PLEASE HELP!

Wait, Camel-you play the Hunt mod too??? Which one? The one I have is the one with the two monster types: Predator & Guard. Do you have the one with a Titan type monster?

Considering how much I suck balls at Creating & compiling maps, and getting them to work, I rely on what is posted on ..::LVL. I am STILL WAITING for a singleplayer map. And I am not saying this directly to Camel,but to those who may have created them before.

I'd recommend you to move on. This looks like it has taken a lot of time to finish - if you spend much more time on it, I'll promise you'll lose motivation. It's cool as it is and you should focus on new projects.

I will try to make new version of the map, hopefully it will support bots, but I dont promise anything, some maps cant support bots due to the maps structure and I might to change or delete lot of stuffs to get it working.

SW12, The Obec: Zastavka u Brna map in this website. But this map version has been updated to 1.3, however bot support has been removed.
Because it has ultra high of terrain quality.
The original bot supported version (1.2) can be downloaded.

Thats what I meant. I found out there was no bot support the moment I entered the map (nice big map) And all I'm asking is when will they come out with another version of the map that'll have bot support the way they did with Obec; Zastavka Y Brna.

SW12, I looked csq3sg1.pk3 file with WinRAR, in maps/ folder, there is a only csq3sg1.bsp map file, no bot support file.

I don't know how you get these problems, but the only problem I see to this map is the lack of bot support. People see it unimportant because they think anyone can just play with other people. But what they don't realize is that nobody on any Q3 Server has this map. And nobody in the area I live in even plays this game anymore. With bots, I have at least SOMETHING to shoot at. Or help. So when can we expect a bot supported version?

That's because q3mme captures uncompressed material. You need to get yourself a video codec and virtualdub or a simular programm to compress it.

@lol: As stated before, to make a video, use IOQuake3 and you have no problems at all - including sound. That is what I use to create the videos here on ..::LvL.

spirit, I used Quake III Arena to play a demo, then type /cl_avidemo 25 in console.
After that, I use pjBmp2Avi to convert their screenshots to a video, but sound is played, what should I do to get the audio to work?

@joshua19800: Like every other custom map, just put the pk3 file into quake3/baseq3/ and select the map from the skirmish/MP menu in Quake 3.

If Quake 3 crashes while loading you may have to add '+set com_hunkmegs 256' to your Quake 3 Shortcut (RMB => Properties). See readme of this map.

EDIT: And stop spamming this place please. One question for help is enough, no need to post 4.

I love the Stargate theme of this map. Very unique and creative, as I've mentioned before, Camel-XP. I hope to see more maps from you in the future.

I was going to review it sometime back. It's definitely an interesting map with some interesting concepts. The stargate thing was brilliant, although I'd assume it'd slow down the gameplay which is the last thing you want on a map so huge. It also lacks some trimming in areas, but that's to beexpected once again because of it's size. Unfortunately I didn't manage to play a match on it so I'm not in a good enough position to give it any further criticism as far as gameplay is concerned. But a big drawback was that the r_speeds are HUGE in places. Still, if the map was given more attention and you refined/improved it more, it could be a brilliant map. But I can't rate it since I can't play it.

Uff, finally map been reviewed, I lost my hope to see it on lvl ever :)
Also, map was made for that competition and was made very fastly, so many things can seems over rated, too big, not completed etc.

For example, I couldnt manage to finish/optimize map for the bots support.

I also annouced that I will finish this map in a near future, well tbh i hadnt much time and efforts to finish it up, I wanted to optimize it for bots support but I couldnt, I wanted to make 2 another new map versions from this huge map, split into 2 maps for regular gametypes, tdm, ffa, ca, tag and 1v1.

My main goal was to make whole SG mappack for Q3, maps would need to be as simple as they can, to get stable fps, bots support and most important provide great gameplay, I also wanted to make some tutorial movie how to play on such map, but never did.

Anyway maybe in the future i will made an re-make of that map, rescale it, fix bugs and optimize for the bots, it should be playable for smaller amount of players.
Btw while making this map I was learning some new things with the compilers, I wanted to optimize map for the best FPS performance, that was my goal too.

I hope that some peoples will find some fun on my map, HF :P
