Map's description : IMPORTANT: This map will not run on vanilla Quake 3.
It exceeds the original engine’s memory and BSP limits and will
crash. Fully compatible with ioQuake3 and Quake3e only.

This is a complete overhaul of my first map, Spacial (2005).
The original version wasn’t great, and I wanted to rebuild it to
match my current standards. After many hours of work — frustration
and satisfaction both — this remake is finally done. I wasn’t even
sure I’d release it at first since I couldn’t get every detail
exactly how I wanted, but the result is a massive improvement over
the original. In my opinion it’s a beautiful upgrade, and I hope
players enjoy it as much as I enjoyed bringing it back to life.

Major Changes:

New_sky_and_lighting — High‑quality sky, improved lighting across the entire map.

Full_retexture_pass — Entire map retextured for a modern look.

Geometry_cleanup — Large amounts of bad brushwork deleted or fixed.

Trim_and_detail_updates — Added new trim; replaced curved trim with cleaner
straight trim.

Skybox_expanded — Increased skybox size on both ends.

Gameplay & Item Updates:

Weapon_balance_pass — Removed BFG + ammo; removed Quad and replaced with
Regeneration.

Improved_item_placement — Adjusted weapon and item layout for better balance.

Base_weapon_fixes — Plasma on red base replaced with shotgun.

Railgun_changes — Removed old railgun bases; added simple floating railguns.

4v4_layout_tuning — Map tuned and optimized for 4v4 CTF.

Teleporter_and_launchpad_updates — Improved teleporters, added floating lights,
and added launch pads to intercept mid‑teleporter routes for more chaos and flow.

Known Issues:

Bot_clip_on_rail_bounce — A botclip was added over the railgun bounce pad to
prevent gameplay issues; bots may hover if pushed onto it.

Bots_ignore_teleporters — Bots do not use teleporters but navigate the rest of
the map normally.

This map supports CTF game mode only.

Additional Credits to : id Software for this awesome ass game, Dont let the quake'n die!

The custom textures I used for this map are from the e8 set by the
one and only Yves Allaire aka "evil lair" which I upscaled x2 to
bring the quality up slightly from original.

The custom sky I used is from the Ultimate Skybox Pack (3700+ Skies
with Shaders) posted by quBit

Build/Animation time : Back in 2005 14-16+ hours, The new version around 42+ hours it was a
migraine headache and I lost track, could be more.

Compile machine: This map was made and compiled originally on my athlon xp 2600,
geforce 6600 gt back in the day but was finished on my i7 2600, gtx
970 system on linux mint xcfe... Gotta love linux giving old hardware
new life.

* How to use this map *

Unzip sq3ctf1_redux.pk3 into your quake 3 base directory.
For example: (C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3)
