@KommissarReb (SW12): Tokara Forest had small circular jump pads which were shiny which released you high into the air and you could control yourself in mid air which I thought was kinda cool you could see the whole map really.

@EmeraldTiger & FragTastic: I think I remember playing a map from either Halo 2 or Halo 3 (or both) that looked really similar to this one. It was either Backwash from Halo 2 or possibly a map from Halo 3.. But like the Unreal Tournament map you mentioned earlier, there were structures.
For the first time I agree with Brian; in that this map looks like the planet Dagobah from Star Wars. However Dagobah probably was perpetually rainy and wet, not to mention the omnipresent fauna that threatened to kill you.

@EmeraldTiger: Tokara Forest from UT2004 is one of my favorite UT maps because of the atmosphere and sound files used for the map. Yes! your right about this map being similar to Tokara Forest but this map looks more darker and misty than Tokara Forest but yet a strong map indeed.

This map works for me without an issue.
It really is a visual rich map. When you think about how old the map is (over 10 years old), the visuals seem even more impressive.
@KommissarReb: I would look for a conflicting pk3 in your baseq3 directory as I have no issues at all.

As of recently this map no longer works for me. Every time I load it up it freezes, where using Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn't effectivley exit out of the game so I am forced to cut the power to my computer.
Its sad since this map was a favorite of mine :(

Amazing :).

This map reminds me a lot of Tokara Forest from Unreal Tournament 2004. Both maps are very inspiring and I might look into doing something more true to Tokara with verticalness, etc. if I get the chance. Large tree low-gravity battles ftw.

Dammit, AEon, you were faster than me judging on that great map. And that after one year of not a single comment on this map! ;)
Everything said, this one is GREAT!

Organic based maps, with many trees and plants, normally are very difficult to get running well, gameflow-wise or FPS-wise. But the map really shines in both respects, delivering a visually stunning experience. It is quite fun and fills the player with awe to discover where the Invisibility, RA, or Quad are located. Very unique ambiance, a must download.

I think author got some aspects of this map from UT map "Tokara Forest" ^^ I'm right?

Fabulous look and features! On the other (less important) hand something seems to confuse and dumb down bot play, and it can become something more like a deer hunt.
... Hopefully this will inspire a whole new map genre. A definite keeper.

wvwdm3 I mean rather than 5. dm3 has a lot of potential for Hoonymode. Ideally HM could do with a pack of strongly themed maps (not more fkn gothics) tailored for it, an organic and slightly smaller dm3 would fit the bill so well.

This map is really nice vwv, some of the features like the little tunnels would be so good in a tourney map. Have you thought about adding an upper level with tree branches? Terrain like this is underused and adds a lot with promode, perhaps if you mixed it in with a 'temple' structure or something? Your earlier map that I worked with you a little on (the one with the RA in the water tank) could beomce avery cute level if more overgrown and you worked organic forms into the layout and tricks. Imaging if your centre piece tree with the spiral vine were more of an interactive object.

Now THAT is how to make a map. This map is unbelievable! It really test the power of my laptop (which runs at 1024x768 @32bit, everything at maximum and getting a wonderful framerate) Of all my 5 computers, my laptop is the only one that can run it. This map is pure beauty with lots of fun and blood.

...wviperw, wondered why you didn't lose a word about my question how you've realized the terrain and found the link to the .map-file. ;)
Great, have to check that now and something to learn especially because I'm a terrain-fan. :)
Thanx for the source, wviperw, very nice and interesting to see what's going on there :)

This map reminds me of 'Pool of Tears' from Alice. You've gotten some inspiration from it, haven't you? :)
Very nice and original map!

SH: Hmm, thats odd about the textures not showing up. Make sure you add wvwq3dm7 to shaderlist, and you have the pk3 in the baseq3 directory so all the textures are there. As far as leaking, erm, I have no idea why it would do that. :)
black edges: yep, thats an issue w/ ATI cards, I can't do much about it. :(
acid: I actually originally planned to have a second winter-ized version of it, but never ended up doing it due to time. It'd wouldn't be that hard to do by modifying the textures to have snow on them, changing the fog color to a slate blue, having snow fall down from the sky, and making the water into ice. Mmmm.. a nice crystalized waterfall... Oh, and maybe add a few more evergreens rather than the trees in there now. If anybody feels like converting it, i'd love to help if you need anything.

wviperw,
great map, congratz!
Absolutely nice atmosphere and terrain-works.
How did you realize the terrain? Mixture of patch meshes and brushes? 3dsmax? would be very interesting to know for me.
one of the best terrain-maps I've seen in the last months,
great

About the low grav version; theres no need to. Just bring down the console and type (without the quotes) "g_gravity 800" 800 is the default gravity, and you can change that to whatever you want. You can even have negative gravity.

very very cool level, altho i find myself running against trees in RL, cause i think they are not clipped :P
reminds me of that sniper level in winter of mohaa. a winter version of decidia would be quite cool, too.

Black skybox edges are typical on ATI cards. Dont blame ATI, it made them work on Nvidia cards by breaking the opengl. ATI does the opengl properly, Id just never fixed it.

neat gimmick. would've made a nice SP map (expanded a bit of course) for some other game.
is the skybox supposed to have big black edges? I didn't see any warning on the console that said the textures were missing... :

Cool map, grabbed source also. Unfortunately there's textures referenced in the .map that arent in the pk3, and I did a quicky compile to see whats up and its leaked?
Am I missing something here?

If you want low gravity, just crank g_gravity down from 800 :)

Feeble effort to quash Tokara Forest comments: Have never played it, have never even seen the level to my knowledge. If you want a lo-grav version, check out the src under the OGSL. :)
Hehe, not sure how the word "tourney" got stuck in there. Its obviously and most definately not tourney.
