16 unit stairs are better for players because they're large enough for you to know when the stepups will be, otherwise the stepups have a habit of killing jumps at the wrong time.

Nice map Kaziganthe - The map does have a good Quake feel to it and the paths are all well connected. I've only played against a bot in it, but I can imagine that it'll be a lot of fun for the casual DM players at a LAN party!

ps. I don't see anything wrong with 16 unit stairs either ;)

No, I have high moral standards (read: laziness) that prevent me from doing something like that. :P

Besides, I would have said, "16 unit stairs help the map to emulate the look of q1 which it was going after so they're pretty appropriate here, and therefore I have no nitpicks about them".
