The videos take a fair amount of time to produce, and not all releases have one.

I'm thinking about dropping these videos for the new releases going forward. Mainly because I don't think people are even viewing the videos.

Does anyone see any reason to keep making these videos? Happy to keep doing them if there people enjoy them or view them, just a little unsure if they are even being played.

Tig, I'm very sorry to say that until today I didn't even realize there WERE videos.

I watched 6-7 just now and enjoyed seeing what the maps actually look like organically vs. just static levelshots.

It's something going forward that I'd definitely make a point to watch, but understand totally if it's not worth the effort to you.

@sedawkgrep : Awesome feedback. Sounds like the videos are totally fine, just a little hidden and may need to be more visible. Thanks!

For the past 8 years I tend to always watch an ..::LvL video when there is one to get familiar with a certain map. They help have a slight look around and get a wider vision of the release. I would always see them as an ..::LvL tradition and couldn't imagine the website without them :)

Tig, i too enjoy the videos - especially if its a map i'm on the fence about trying.
however, if it's too time consuming, a hassle, stressful, quite understandable.
much appreciation for all your doings at lvlworld.com.

Awesome feedback everyone. That is exactly what I was looking for. Either people know about them and enjoy them, or they did not even know many releases have them.

My takeaway from this:

  • Keep making the videos (where possible).
  • Make them easier to find.
Again, thanks everyone!

I watch them all the time. I engage with all the stats for the uploads. But if they are a hassle and time consuming for you, you should stop doing them.

@HelterSkeleton : Thanks for the feedback! The videos are staying for sure. In the new year I will look at some options to make them more visible (if available).

Hi @Tig, I just found out this thread.
I've always known there were videos, sometimes I watched them to see how a map looked like while playing.
Maybe people didn't notice because on the "media" page for every map the videos were at the bottom, I think if they're placed at the top or just below the screenshots, people will notice them right away. Unless they don't even check the "Media" tab on a map. So you'll be force to create the "Video" tab because people can't find the video themselves.
@Tig, I'd say try to place videos in a way they're easily spotted; if they don't eat up a lot of bandwidth, it's all good.
Still, I don't buy the "I didn't know there were videos" thing. Same way I don't buy the "disagre" thing on comments about a map, comments that are neither aggresive nor insulting or anything like that.
These are things that keep me away from this site.
