Between 2000 and 2002 Kit Carson released a number of strong, large Quake 3 maps. Then there was silence in the Q3A custom map space until now.

This retro-styled release is 100% respectful and inspired from those early releases and the base game Gothic maps. Then you start to notice the brush work and touches that were missing or skipped over from those earlier releases, something that comes with more experience and paying attention to the details.

This is a big, open map with room to move, long rail shots and a few tight sections. The theme is solid and heavy, very old in construction. A lot of Q3A DNA in the visuals.

The gameplay, when up against bots, is enjoyable and well balanced in Deathmatch and Team DM games. Even with the scale of the map you are only a short distance from the action. The openness of the main spaces is helping here, allowing you to see the action and even get involved from distance, quickly. I did feel like a second Rocket Launcher would be helpful. For Team DM games, 3vs3 suited the item load better that 4vs4 games.

Feels like a contemporary remix of a classic. Check it out.
