Foo has put together a beautifully finished, visual delight remix of Spike's release Humiliation (spikedm2). A lot has changed, or evolved between the two. The most obvious being the rich graphics in this version. The gameplay is very strong in both, yet feels a lot more polished in Exhumed - Humiliation Redux.
The masses of water flowing in almost all areas keeps the intensity of the theme high. Plants and stonework are another strong feature throughout. A few moving without real reason objects plus a fun secret or two keep the fantasy alive.
The layout twists and turns over itself across two or three floors, depending on where you are in the map. Short jumps allow you to break the predefined paths and are what gives the level amazing connectivity. The map feels a lot larger than it is thanks to background brushwork in inaccessible areas. As expected from a Foo release, the item placement seems to be spot on. The Bots seem a little preoccupied with a few sections but otherwise play without any real issue.
A very strong, very professional release. Do not miss this one!
Note: Originally completed for the Map-Center's Quake 3 25th Anniversary jam, which contains a number of awesome maps.
