Let me start with a disclaimer. Red Warrior Shot The Food by Chris "Foo" Thorpe was a Geocomp 4 contest submission. Back then I organized that contest. There were no judges or prizes, so there isn't any bias going into this review. Having said all that, let's get to it.

This is a great Tourney map. The gameplay is excellent and it's a lot of fun to frag on. Bots play it quite well and can even give you a hard time if you're not carefull. Visually it has a Quake 1 feel to it, but with funky colored lighting and a clear sky instead of a dark fantasy atmosphere.

The gameplay is fast paced with multiple tiers and teleporters for maximum manoeuvrability. I especially like the jump you have to make to reach the RG and I appreciate the platform it's on, because it doubles as a great sniping location. The map is open enough to justify it's inclusion, but luckily not too open.

I have to say that the RA room is probably the weakest part of the map, because there is no challenge in obtaining it. I would have preferred a platform, dead end or something else to add some risk. It's also annoying to fall to your death in the main room near the teleporter.

Don't let these minor criticisms put you off though. This is a solid map, with good fast paced gameplay, an interesting layout and a pretty unique look. The screenshots don't really do the map justice. So if you want to have some fun, be sure to pick this one up.
