I used to play Quake Live on Steam often. Freeze Tag with Railgun only in team matches. Mostly on the Pills or DeathRow servers.

I have looked at a few Freeze Tag mods and Ultra Freeze Tag has impressed me the most. Why?

It comes with a number of config file set-ups for playing in various modes. One of most interesting for me is ft-hook-rail.cfg. This config allows for playing Freeze Tag with the Grappling Hook and Railgun only. There are many options one can set in the various config files. Adding the Quake Live mappack for Quake 3 from moddb, and I can recreate my Steam experience mentioned above.

The bots are good too. They grapple, they crouch and they seem to thaw better than other Freeze Tag mods I have looked at. At higher skill levels they can be quite formidable. This mod is based on Freeze Tag 1.5 by Darrell Bircsak.

I have played this mod with ioquake3, OpenArena and Quake3e without issues.

Quite enjoyable.
