@SW12: Ahh thanks SW12 :D. It said it needed a mod so I thought that a Mod was required to get the map working but now it works fine :D.

@FragTastic: Have you played the map in standard Quake III yet? It works without the mod, although the map would probably play better with it.

You should try this in the Hunt mod (Save The Universe Gametype) and set the predators to Carmack (or some other human). It's a blast!

Man if it was on normal Quake 3, then it would be awesome but sadly it's MM CTF which I don't have.

yes chirsq i agree with you that real life maps are indeed possible in QUAKE III. Afterall, all UNREAL TOURNAMENT maps have some resemeblance to real life.; space stations, fortresses, sky scrapers, bases etc. It is a pity the QUAKE III community do not follow this often enough. Just gothic..gothic..gothic. The odd occasion someone has a sense of perception greater than others and produces a map on a different theme. Thank fuck.

I don't see a basketball court as a fragging area. Must have something to do with school shootings. For that alone, and the humongous file size, I give this map a big fat ZERO. Quatrix is cool. Ancient Archipelago is a sight to behold. But this, I won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I second that notion chrisq!

When you finish, post your Temple map - it sounds like something to look forward to.

this is a response to one post that said "real life levels just don't convert well, period."

i disagree w/ this. look at runtfest, for example. that's a very fun team dm and all-rail map, imo. also, a mapper sent me a 'school map' that he made, a short while back. it's actually pretty good. it's very possible to create "realistic" environments and maintain good gameplay. after all, how do u define "real?" the castles and space maps of q3 could easily be considered real castles and space outposts.

i'm working on a map right now that has a greek temple in it. i'm trying my best to make the temple (of hephaestos) the same dimensions, style, etc as the real temple in greece. as of yet, i haven't seen the gameplay suffer.

gameplay is not measured in texturing, or, in many ways, construction, but in item placement and layout. if u've ever walked through the halls of a public building and thought: "this would make a cool q3 map" there is nothing stopping u from making it, and making it very good.

btw, this map was not that good (5), but to say all "realistic" maps are not is completely wrong.

Why do CTF mappers so often feel that they can group 2-10 freakin maps in one package. Some of us are STILL in the 56k dial-up age. 14 and a half MB is a little excessive. From now on.....break them apart.

Shit Sorry... if you want to play the warehouse x2 at 12.4.5.9:27960..its the rivrpak0.zip file at ...link removed... under maps.

RivrPako.pk3 version is the non-matchmod version for FFA, team and reg CTF

12.4.5.9:27960 (Just noticed it running there)

WaReHoUsE X2 is running on the above clanmage server. Reg FFA i think. Mage, BoT, nVa all like the warehouse... so I thought i'd do a loose Q3 version based on Q2 so when we all wanted to bring back the memories.. it would be around. Spent many hours playing the warehouse.

Some will like it , Some won't... but its there if you want to play on the Mage server above.

It could be recompiled with the new bot code...maybe than they'd roam more. Every so often bots go up by bfg , but not often enough.

BTW ...these maps are FFA compatable. And the non-matchmod captiveCTF version is at ... link removed

Your right ..The high school map should have had more blue and red, but MM guys needed it for a release and didn't have time. It was originally a DM map.

The Warehouse has alot of red and blue... under walkways and on walls. There are bot roams on upper level of warehouse and by bfg and jump pads, but Q3 bots aren't the smartest even with bot roams. (Not like UT bots). Their suppose to have been improved as of late.. so hopefully they'll wonder more.

I played these levels back when I had a T1 connection. The d/l wasn't worthwhile then, largely because of the rough texturing, bland item selection, and choppy gameflow (the Q3 High anyway).

The q3 warehouse doesn't do the original justice. I'm not really a stickler for appearance, but this level just doesn't look like the original.

RivrStyx, try dreaming up your own room layouts. Quake 2 levels don't usually make good Quake 3 levels, and real life levels just don't convert well, period.

why don't the bots use the upper levels in the warehouse level?? like the passage way to the bfg or jsut where the rail gun is?

Maps need to be played with matchmods "Captive CTF". This makes killed players spawn into jails... where flag carrier can let teammates out or opposing team can torture convicts.

Theres another version that can be played with any mod where cells are just traps ..or no mod

its not just shootings in schools, i don't know why people want fire arms in the 1st place. you are only encouraging people to shoot each other.

and the map is shite. could have at least put some blue and red somewhere so one knows whose base one is in.
