@FistMarine (and others): It is a good idea and it has always been the plan to create more packs like this. Time is the big killer for me, so you are more than welcome to make suggestions to what maps should be in a pack or two on the forum.

BTW, be sure to check out the very first ..::LvL Pack - the cream off the top, - lvlworld.com/review.php

a great map pack.. thanks guys... i like new maps and i play mostly single player against bots, so i really appreciate how you can play the whole map pack on single player tier with the bots. All great maps, especially liked Reloaded by Yogi and Vertigo by Sai-KO.

Yup...it's just, you need CPM to get the most out of all of them, and arguably to get anything worthwhile out of one of them. Since I don't play Q3A that much anymore, I just like to do some DM with bots on custom maps and not worry about having a full server's rotation of them...so, to release a map pack which is one thirds designed for a mod?

I'm just saying, it's kinda....off...as in, if I don't have CPM I won't enjoy it as much, when it's really supposed to be a whole community thing. I may be stepping on myself here: I won't enjoy it without CPM so why don't I have it? Because I don't like CPM's gameplay...that's got old....shout at me as much as you like, I don't care for it. Therefore it leaves behind a perhaps less "old school" or people with less time part of the community. It's their site and their pack. But still.

Finally, "Q3A was designed by ID the way they wanted it." You say no it wasn't, but don't say ANYTHING about how it wasn't. Of course it wasn't perfect. Of course they had to change some things. But they didn't want a QW clone, not anymore than I want to play one today. I'm not a sheep if I'm disagreeing with the major Q3A maps site's choice of levels, am I? And where does the 99% better gameplay figure, with CPM or without it? If you honestly think it's there even without it, I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree.

"Q3A was designed by ID the way they wanted it". Heh. No, it wasn't. But to say that AND claim you're not a sheep? :)

There are 4 maps designed for CPM in this collection, 3 of them being "official" CPM maps, i.e. ones that we consider to have significantly better gameplay than 99% of the custom maps out there. Tig seems to agree, as does the CPL which has used two of them even for VQ3 tournaments.

Don't get hung up on where the maps came from: just enjoy them for the excellent work they are. :)

Er, rather than "two maps that come with CPMA" (because I'm not sure of the actual number), I meant to say "more than two maps designed for CPMA". I believe there are at least 3 in there.

Baaah....(no I'm not a sheep)

Well it's great to see another map pack, because I used to go through Lvl all the time, see the good maps, d/l a few...and I just don't have the time anymore, except for the "You gotta have this one" type reviews :-/

So it's nice to know I can download one file and have a whole wack of nice maps to try out...and the singleplayer mode really lets you explore them and know the maps before online play, even if the bots suck ass in one or two of them.

Only thing I disagree with is the inclusion of more than one CPMA map. I can't possibly say that Aerowalk isn't a great map...it's fun in either OSP, CPMA, or even VQ3. But having two maps that come with CPMA is a little much...there's plenty of people who like CPMA and play it, and plenty who don't....you can guess what side I'm on, it's pretty obvious.

Q3A was designed by ID the way they wanted it...I happen to like it...and I happen to play more Half-Life mods now than I do Q3 and its mods (no I don't play CS much at all :-p ).

So, props to Tig and all you great mappers (AMAZING maps Bal, I hadn't played Scrap Metal ][ before), and keep em coming for ordinary gamers like us.

/me goes back to studying for exams

In the case of my two levels in this pack, they were really designed for CPMA.

hub3aeroq3 uses the GA entity in CPMA, so in VQ3 for example, the map will be missing one armour. If you do play hub3aeroq3 in CPMA, I highly recommend using CPMA's Q2 style armoursystem.

callvote armorsystem 3

While there are many people who like hub3dm1 in VQ3, the map does play better in CPMA.

CPMA's physics are soooo much superior to Q3's, it's crazy to want to duel in any other environment for Q3...

May I just add that I think vanilla q3 is just fine on these maps.

These are cool maps, mostly. The worst are still really good.

In some forums some have worried about the likes of some of these maps being played in vanilla q3 rather than pro mode. It seems to me that most servers are running osp, which allows pro mode to be played, so I don't know if this is really a problem.

Bal: I'll have to load it up in there again and let it crash. I don't remember the error exactly. I don't have much time now but I'll do it and e-mail you the error. I think it might have had something to do with OSP so it might even be fixed now that there's a new version out.

I have to second Bal's sentiment - thanks for including us all in the pack - It feels nice to be placed alongside some of the greats =]

I'm thinking that the next map pack should have renamed map files, i.e. lvlpq2map1, lvlpqmap2, etc... It just pisses me off when i have to exit Q3 and go back in to type in the name of the map I wanted to play...

Disinformation used to crash my server for some reason. Has that one ever been changed since it's first release?
