Rota Rep. 140

Lol, I had no idea, that my nick can be so interesting theme for discussion. But I will tell you the whole story to explain you that I never wanted to pretend, that I am a woman.. :) (And I never said that I am)

So.. many years ago - when I wanted to have some original nick - I opened some book and with closed eyes choose 4 letters and put them together. It was R, O, T and A.. And thats it.. Just a pure random, dadaism, maybe bad luck, maybe good luck.., But definitelly not intention to look like girl.

@Rota: Are you planning on making any new maps? I liked your first map: Dum. I hope for a realism-style map.

Who thinks Rota is woman, I'll disapoint him (or her)... Rota's a man, which makes right my discuss with him on Q3W PM... In czech lang you know who's talking, a man or a woman (he or she). Rota used 'he' variation, which confused me a lot... I though Rota's woman, too, but my czech converastion with him completely changed my thoughs... I have found out it when he have requested a help with the new Radiant stuff... So now, let's talk to him...

When I first loaded this map up, my jaw dropped pretty much at first, as it is quite impressive to look at. There are not many mappers that make maps like this.

And the mapper is from czech country, too. Keep up this nice and great work, I want any new nice maps from you, Rota...
Yes, Rota is Bohemian but her maps are one of the best on world...

BTW, I'm also from czech country, but your maps are pretty nice, great work on them. I pretty like Rota's maps (Iris, Capture the Karin, Marilyn - this map, Pampuch forever...) On map Dum, there are some recorded sounds (such as birds - recorded whistle, edited in sound editor to bird singing illusion - great), they're very impressively recorded.

I have also her first map Dum (think it's a bit test, but the map Dum have very impressive details - thumbs up...) and decided to download her other maps there released. I have map there explained and her map Pampuch forever (textureset from sock, layout as packman in 3D) for example...

This map is really nice... Reasuring sounds and textures... Launch the map without bots and enjoy relax...

This is a truly awe inspiring piece of art. If there is ever a "Louvre" for Quake III maps this will undoubtedly hold a place of prominence there. It would be without purpose to recount what v1\3 penned in the review so I will suffice it to say that the assessment it is spot on. If you haven't downloaded this map yet you have been missing out on a real treat; download it, zip it into the old baseq3 and transport yourself to another place for awhile. It's so peaceful that you may be shocked when someone targets you.

Looks wonderful, I absolutely love the combination of natural rock, waterfalls, and plants in an outdoor environment with spliced-in high-tech elements. Plays well against bots.

Only wish the FPS was higher - note it is fluid, just not 100+ FPS fluid :).

Probably my favourite map by Rota. The outdoors area is simply amazing (especially the waterfalls), and the terrain is well mixed with the techno-style corridors. Really love the "eco-friendly" atmosphere. Also, its really funny to hear birds singing in middle of a gunfight.

Nice surroundings, cool atmosphere and the mixed nature/tech theme is fantastic. It is not a 100% keeper but it's sure worth to download for LAN games.

Damn, thats nice. Even though it lacks the drool-tastic texturing and brushwork of Socs maps, it is undeniable that you have more skill than most.

Okay. I read the review. Downloaded it. Fired it up. And felt in love. Just as v1|3 said this map is eye candy at its finest, the sound effects fit perfectly in the environment. The water falls are really great, and the rocks, the plants, the pools, the textures, the placement of items and... and... and... panting for air I'm really impressed how fine the flow is, you never stuck everywhere or need to take out a map to know where you are. Bots are challenging, these guys seem to like the map too. Rota, tell us how you made this smooth caverns :) Simple Patch Meshes?
10 of 10 - just what a map of this caliber deserves :)
