Way back in 2008, Hipshot released this map as a Public Beta but never really returned to finish the job. That could be because this release was pretty awesome. Fully complete and 100% playable, the map has become a bit of a reference point for other authors.
Visually, we are playing in the odd back alley space between old industrial buildings. Crumbling brickwork, rusting tin and discarded materials create a very strong aesthetic. Some slag pools suggest there must be a metal forge close by.
The game space is fairly tight with a fair number of different heights and angles to keep things both moving and interesting. Items are well spread. The Yellow and Red Armours are close, but the difficultly of picking up the Red balances this. Teleports are open doorways. Simple and effective. Ledges and the waste items lying around are all perfectly placed for navigation. Suits two to three players perfectly.
The dark corner below Red Armour and near the Rocket Launcher is a focus point for the bots. These AI fighters also seem to be unable to access the Red Armour. Remember this is a beta release. There is a high chance these very minor issues could have been resolved in a full version.
A great release pulled from the past. Do not let the nit-picking or the words Public Beta put you off. This is a very enjoyable release. Play it now.
