Experienced mapper and long-time member of the Q3A community, Foo took another pass at Red Warrior Shot The Food (gc4_foo). Originally released in 2006 for GeoComp. This version comes with an exclamation mark (!) in the title and a significant number of other changes including visual enhancements.
The main layout changes are squared up steps (but still tall), the entire Rail Gun section and the death-pit is now grated over. These changes as well as a few less obvious ones all improve the already excellent gameplay and balance in the original.
If you are using a current game engine like ioquake3 or Quake3e you are in for a visual treat. Thanks to a gentle level wide fog, new textures and a strikingly contrasting skybox, the level feels softer and diffused with a very rich atmosphere. Enabling r_flares 1 will enhance the experience.
As great as this release is, there are a few very, very minor issues. Having the remixed version and the original installed will cause a skybox error on the 2006 release. A caulk (invisible) texture has also been used on the inside of the doors which looks a little odd when they open. There is no real reason to have both versions installed, so just delete the original and move on. The invisible door texture is easy to ignore and has no gameplay impact.
Bots will get about the entire level without issues.
Highly recommended release. Download and enjoy.
