A large round open arena with two spiralling walkways around a central shaft. Designed originally for Quake Live Clan Arena matches (think fast Team DM, last man standing if unsure what that is), then ported to Quake 3.
There is no doubt the matches can be a lot of fun, with the game play heavily focused on fast frags and player skill. If there is any imbalance in the players at all, the fun component is out the door.
Visually and structurally interesting and well made. The arena does the job it was set out to do well. The only issue is the repartition. Both the strength and the weakness in Clan Arena style game play. Maybe I'm just a little too old school and like a little more variety in the environment.
At first, the arena does not appear to be big enough for many players, but a 4 vs 4 Team DM match seems just about right. Interestingly a 3 player DM or even a Tourney match is suitable as well. The openness of the arena also suits bots very well.
A nice release that might suit some players more than others.
