Cloaked in familiar Gothic textures, Cross of Pain is none the less a nice looking map. Item placement is fairly well thought out, with the rocket launcher far from the centre of the action.

Considering this the author might have taken the next step and removed it completely as a gameplay twist. Still the launcher location ensures that there are plenty of battles with less-popular weaponry.

Gameplay focuses on the central atrium, as it ought to, but moves around nicely. Bots occasionally get stuck bouncing on bouncepads, but once you round the corner they will get moving again.

A Gothic level well suited to TDM or Tourney.
