this is the best tier i could find! the maps are large and they require higher fraglimits. the custom bots are OK, some of them are using red/blue colors of ranger and doom and there is also a custom bot using daemia skin which i found a bit useless, it could have used for example hunter harpy because there are some skins that are not used by bots. the last map was a bit laggy for me, it froze screen for 2 seconds thinking the game crashed or something. still, very good. i would give 8.5 if i could vote and hopefully, more tiers will be expected from future.

You need to select the Quake 3 Arena 'mod' from the mod menu. You can also delete the 'fsteir' folder or 'pk3' files.

Did you extract the file to the 'baseq3'folder in your Q3 directory. If you have done this, then bring down the console by pressing the tilde key - the key just above the tab button (has this symbol ¬ on it). Next type in the following: map fsdm1 then hit return, map should load, just do the same for the others except use their names, eg fsdm2, etc.

If this fails then bring down the console again and enable cheats by typing in the following: seta sv_pure 0 hit return and then type map fsdm1 followed by return and they should work.

If after changing the sv setting you have difficulty connecting to online servers change it back again, type in the following seta sv_pure 1 hit return

Does your little brain hurt now, mine does.

all of the maps were killer but on the second map the bots kept getting stuck on that bounce pad and i could just stand there and easily get em with the rockets... but over all i think they are the best maps on here. if you ever get that second one fixed, can you please make it available?

Hey, um..just a question. As to Elvis's comment "I don't like the end cinematic", it's the one that comes with the Q3A Demo. This, at least for me, seems to be the case for all tier addons, it runs like it was the demo test. Just wondering why is all..easier coding perhaps?

omg, the earlier versions did have a railgun and no invisiblity. I was trying to stick to "slow delivery" weapons. But you are right, it was a much more fun version I think. If you like, I will send you a custom version with the railgun instead of the invisiblity. And thanks for the comments !

It's alright but I found a bit of stuttering in map 1 and 3, but that could also be my aging (already) 400 and TNT1. The swinging chain was pretty cool and the maps themselves above average. But I don't know, I didn't get that feeling you get when you really click into a map. So I'm giving a 7 to recognize work well done, but I don't know, the map just didn't hit me as great, in my opinion.

they looked nice and played ok but seemed just too much like the standard q3 maps to me. Felt a bit dull to play. I didn't think they were all that special although they were a lot better than many recent releases. By the way, I am pissed so excuse me if I screw up my typing (or make LESS mistakes than normal :)

Thank god for download sites that work..hey Tig & Mandog, you should post links to 3dDownloads to, considering what's been up with FilePlanet lately =P

I would hardly go so far as to say they oughta work for idea (forgotten tier, whatever same thing) but they are pretty good. Just big! All of them are big, partly because..well they are large levels, and partly because especially in Circular Logic and Ravenous there is NOTHING!!!! (I mean this) to lure you outside the main areas, it's not worth the lost time.

And in Ravenous, it is even worse; the bots ignore the central area, and so you lose frags either because you arrive with only bad weapons or have to spend the time to pick good weapons up.

But the other two maps were good, it's a real mixed bag. Imho, Demon Winds was the best of the bunch. It featured a well placed quad, out of the way weapons (good thing, you have to go and get em so you end up all over level) and good connectivity. And the sniper post? Well the rg was good, but not for sniping..the action moved around 2 much. =)Wonders what the secret is ;)

Another thing, the bots were amazing..sure just regular q3 models, and just regular bot chat, but here was an actual challenge! Strikes me that the tier authors must not find the basic q3 bots enough trouble to frag.

Well....all I can say is I hope these guys keep together and make another tier, or maps, or something, because this was a dam good jobs. Even the worst map (Ravenous) gets a solid 7, I'm giving the pack as a whole 8.

    Circular Logic: 7.5

    Chaos Reigns: 8

    Ravenous: 7

    Demon Winds: 9

    Happy Fraggin! Octovus

Some good maps. Solid construction and bot play is surprisingly OK. The textures are well done and flow and weapon balance are good.

I really don't like the way the maps are packed together as a mod. In fact, I've set up my own arena files so they function like every other map. Is there a good reason they're like this? Seems pointless.

At any rate, I like the maps, they'll be played here on the LAN often I'm sure. A solid 8.

    As for the download problems...

Possible to download t from the mappers homepage!

You're right, Tigger, is a MUST. But I don't like that 'tier'-pack-story, I prefer to have my own decisions in choosing bots, I don't like batch-stuff, anyway. So I created a new arena-file. A few parts are a bit overbright, too, so it would be an eight; -but, they used the small tiny brick I like, so it is a nine in the end.
