Nightmare Clockbot gives a good match here. Love the theme, I wish you'd do a larger map with it. I want to live here.

this is a nice map, well flowing map. the only place gameplay is slowed is in the outdoor room were the GA is, the jump pad part messes up my flow.

rocket launcher should be in the outdoor area, but i shouldnt really complain about the item placement because it seems fine anyway.

good map.

asome, im impressed; this map is allot of fun and has great bot play, and it looks pretty neat too; however, im not shure the rocket launcher really fits, think the plasma gun would have been better.

On the scale of things. The only corridor that really has a very low cieling is the very bottom one where you find the LG at. The reason for this is that it is a service corridor, notice the wiring along the sides etc. And it wouldnt have that same atmosphere were it larger. I made it short as well because i know there isnt room to manuever in there. I personally think that there is plenty of room to move around in this map. Again this is personal preference - I don't think maps should be so tight you can't move - and this one certainly walks the line, but enough ppl that I respect as players and mappers told me that the gameplay was good during the beta phase that i felt confident releasing it. In fact believe it or not - I worked more space into the design at their recommendation.

I do understand that some people prefer a more open layout, and I myself enjoy big maps too. But you can't please everyone all the time =) even the one of the most incredible q3 mappers, lunaran (who i believe is beyond reproach!) got some criticism for what i felt was a perfect map! (LDBAST) So i certainly expect my pitiful attempts at maps to always get criticism no matter how hard I work on them.

About the absence of the RG. Q3tourney2 is one of the most popular tourney maps at competitions - It has no RG. In fact, this map has the same weapon choices as that one.

I'm nuts im sitting here responding to each criticism! - haha this map was like my little baby - i really nurtured it along from meager beginnings to something that I feel is a pretty good effort for an amateur like myself. I'm gonna try to make this my last comment on the subject - I'll rest assured that those who like this type of map will like it and those who don't wont! There is a good review of this map over at shug's btw www.planetquake.com/shug/

Thanks again to all of you for taking the time to comment.

Maybe a 20 percent reduced gravity, a door before entering the outside-area or a forcefield around that area would have increased the sensation of lunatic lunarian fighting?

It's tight alright =)

The relative size of the map doesn't bother me tho, it's the scale of it all...I felt like I had to kneel sometimes to get thru. It's not a bad thing, but I noticed it =)

Nice texturing tho, and good gameplayimo

Captian,

I surely don't think you were "too harsh" as you put it. I accept criticism very well as long as it isn't mean spirited.

However, I think that this is more of a personal preference than a real problem with the map. There is a good segment of the community (myself included) who love tight fast tourney maps. This one was intended to cater to that group.

I don't intend on creating the same types of maps each time - In fact my for next map (outside of the bid for power mod) I was planning on doing a larger more open DM map.

Anyway thanks for the comments and criticisms. And thanks for playing the map.

Captain,

Those seem like legitimate criticisms to me. But on the other hand, I guess I liked the short bounce pads for a change. And, I too would have liked to see a bit more room here and there, but when I "let go" and played the map, it was just good, clean fun anyway. ;)

I think the players' "z-axis" positions change enough to satisfy the strateigic aspects of vertical gameplay. However, I understand why for reasons of gameplay "feel" someone might think it would be better if the whole thing were expanded upwards more.

Coloured lighting is not overbearing as in other maps such as LDBAST, but instead has been correctly implemented and therefore enhances the look of this arena. There is a good variety of textures in this level and they have been very well combined to create a really nice looking tech arena. The inclusion of a few nebulas and the multitude of stars in the night sky was also quite appealing; much better than Id's ugly void backdrops. The Moon Buggy visible through one of the windows was definitely a nice touch, as it helped to further create the sensation of battling in a Lunar Outpost.

The layout of the map is reasonable, though certain corridors were a bit too tight for my liking and the rooms themselves are quite small - a trend that is becoming common in many recently released small DM or Tourney levels. I consider narrow passageways and rather small rooms, too restrictive, as IMO they hinder movement and detract from the quality of gameplay. Vertical play wasn't that stimulating either, as there was only a moderate height difference between platforms.

If you expanded the rooms a bit more, widened some corridors and increased the height difference between platforms; this arena could be greatly improved.

Hope my comments weren't too harsh. I do think you have potential and hope you'll construct more maps for the community.

SCORE: 7.5 (as this isn't permitted it'll have to be an 8 then).

A pretty map this is.

Nicely themed out, but lacks easy navigation(less bouncepads would have been good).

Also found the absence of the RG a bit strange.

A good duel map for the less "serious" duellist is what I think..

This map is very sweet, very fast. It really makes you move around, and the moon theme is well executed. With 3 players you get a nice balance of fast melee play and stealth.

A "9" for all-around solid design.
