@sst13: Graphics have been update. Strong chance you will still see the old images until a browser cache clear has been completed. A CTRL+SHIFT+R should also update the graphics.

XD. Thanks sst13. Based on knowledge of quake secrets, shooting lights, quake logos etc. was one of the first things i started doing, along with hacking at different shaded wall parts. So i just hadn't hit the right combo yet. i'll check this out again later.

@sst13: My video card has just died. I thought something was a bit wrong when doing the screenshots for this update (setting or card, I was not sure).
Looks like when the new video card arrives I will have a lot of graphics to update. Thanks for taking the time to point this out.
Edit: Checked my screenshots.cfg
and I have r_overBrightBits "1"
set, so it was my video card on the way out.

There are 2 shootable buttons attached to 2 wind pipes. Shoot both (a notification sound plays single & double) and the button under the rocketlauncher will be useable. Invis will only spawn in FFA.
There is also a 5th secret: If you camp on the gargoyle, the quake logo next to him becomes shootable. (red glowing) You can use the splash damage of a rocket to activate the gargoyle by your own.
@Tig: The screenshots are looking a bit strange. Like "r_overbrightbits" is set to 0 instead of 1 (default). Or do you run Q3 in window mode?

just interested to know more about the invis. I've found Cthon's farts and the two teleports to the Quad. But I have played on all three game modes (TDM, Trny, FFA) and not found the invis. Not only that but I never here a 2nd power-up spawn either. any hints?

Great aesthetics. Quake-theme achieved 100%, including the secret(s?). Gameplay is fast and furious (at least with recommended bot load, 3). Can't comment on original lighting as I use enhanced lighting settings. A great map by a great mapper! Keep them coming! (In fact, there are two more coming to LvL in queue). :)

The review is spot-on. A creative reimagining of the original, and secrets are a nice touch as always!
The lighting issue is something I brought up with sst13 himself but he was adament this was the look he was after. A classic Quake look was what he set out to achieve, but I think if you look at excellent examples of modern-day Quake levels (anything by Sock or Bal is a good starting point) you can see the classic look can still achieve a masterful use of lighting and shadows. A real shame, in an otherwise solid map.
