I want to like it based on the chosen look alone. I'm a bit of a sucker for an original location/theme, but there are few issues. The lamp models used to ground the light source (so to speak) is a little large for a few of the areas it was used in. So much so that rather than add to the theme it detracted from it by looking so obviously wrong in terms of scale. The other as mentioned is gameplay. The basement leads to a teleporter that throws you up into the same main area, which wouldn't be an issue if not for the fact that at the end of the day the main area is basically just one room. There are corridors that lead into a couple of other small spaces, but those just open up into balconies that also drop down into the same main room. So everything inevitably ends up in the room shown here in this review's level shot. Which I think would have been fine, if there was something more going on in the main room besides it being a small square box. It keeps the gameplay fast, for sure. But it gets stale fast.

Pretty amazing in some parts and textures are brilliantly brushed smoothly with quite good gameplay. I would prefer it to be bigger because it's just too small for my liking. 6.5/10

I loved the textures and the style. They are pretty good, the style is unique. But the gameplay is, as said, terrible. I tried it in both 2 player and 4 player deathmatch.

I have a few projects already, but I love this style that Geit used, so I might take on that task.

I'll see what I can do. ;)

I'd really like to see you make a larger map in these textures and styles. It would be really cool to have something in that theme

It'll be "the art of war" literally :P

Well, then it's time for the rail fans to work a little harder for their favourite weapon of war ;)

Altough, I respect your words, and see your point. So no bitter here :)

Hmm... that last line sounded a bit harsh. What I really meant is that some people who like the rail gun might be put off by the placement... I play a lot of freeze rail and I dislike it for the reasons in the last comment. And it is possible that rail fans won't like the placement for the same reasons as me.

Well of course, it is my opinion anyway since I wrote the review. And personally I just dislike using rail guns in small areas anyway, so when I played it I normally stayed away from there.

Because of the teleporter, it is literally a single linked room anyway, and I hate single linked rooms and always will do (because I am a defensive player so I like areas to exit then come round and attack from areas the enemy may not realise I'd come from). So really it was my preference to the rail gun which I wrote, but I know I won't be alone in disliking its placement ;)

Oh, and a word on the disliked rg.

The reason i placed it where it is, is because it's a dangerous place to go, and the weapon of choice is the rg, due to the fact that both RA and MH is in the central area, and anyone with a rg could control these easily.

Now, if you go downstairs to the rg, the enemy will hear you going down, and most likely camp the RL or GL, to kill him as he either enters the tele, or goes up again through the stair entrance again.

I've played this map against several human players, and they seemed to like the rg position good enough.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I wish you had told me you were going to release an adaptation of that junkyard map... :/

Good work though ;)

I thought this map was a little small and should have been expanded because of the name. It would seem that a place called Art,Wood, and Carpets it would be larger. The bots play ok except they don't try to get the Mega Health on one of the ledges. The teleporter was the coolest thing in the map. Gameplay was not that great and Item placement was alright. This map could have been better. 5/10

"Didn't it actually win the 1024^3 comp?"

I just checked levelsource, and it did get the most votes in total from all the categories. So I guess the map won. If I had known before I would have added it to the review; I hate to review maps without giving their author full credit for their achievements in contests etc.

I agree that the teleport should lead somewhere else, and the bots suck even more than usual. I like this one though.

Didn't it actually win the 1024^3 comp?

I recently noticed this map was made for the 1024^3 contest, so apologies for not including that in the review (though if it had been included in the text file I would have known). This does explain why the game play wasn't up to scratch, in my opinion. Apologies once again.
