In Quake 3 we've seen players fight each other in all sorts of settings, but for this Urban Jam, we're bringing deathmatch to the city. You can create anything relating to or having characteristics of a town or city. Think of factories, warehouses, shipyards, construction sites, city streets, sewers, etc. If you prefer examples from other games: City 17 from Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike maps such as Overpass, almost any map from Kingpin and if you're looking closer to home, most of Urban Terror for Quake 3. The Quake 3 Urban Jam starts Friday May 30th and ends Sunday July 13th, followed by a public playtesting period. Please visit the q3-urban-jam channel in the Map-Center Discord server (discord.gg/vSvqwys5hB) for the rules and guidelines.
This is a great project and theme. Looking forward to seeing the maps from this Jam. Personally I'm already overcommitted but it has me thinking about what I would try to do.

That's quite a tease Tig! I was looking at Endarchy too, seeing if we could recommend some textures from it.

While it is extremely unlikely I will be able to fully finish a map in time, if by some chance I can, would it be OK to just get you a copy somehow? Also, is there anything that is required other than what is stated on the website?

The original ending of Sunday July 13th will now be Sunday Augustus 3rd. This will give everyone an additional 3 weeks. As usual, playtesting will start after that deadline (but feel free to start as soon as you're ready). There won't be any additional extensions after this one.
Quake 3 Urban Jam Release
Usually, I write all the promotional text, but today, I have to steal some lines from Tig’s review because it’s just too damn good not to use:
“Originally, hundreds of Mappers signed up. The promise of a billion city and urban themed maps to keep the level starved Q3A Players satisfied all looked amazing on paper. Then the work started. The reality of unforeseen events kicked in and plans had to be changed. In the end we had to settle for four strong releases.”
