I was thinking, when you cast a vote or comment on something, it would be nice to have a true pop-up window rather than a separate page for it.

Hmmm, that looks interestingly. I like the concept #3 the most :)

The main reason for not doing this originally was because I wanted the site to work without Javascript as much as possible and to have a fluid design (that means work on any size screen).

However, "voting" requires Javascript (from memory) so... I'll look at adding something like the first idea soon. The last idea is just not practical from within a browser, but looks the best for sure :]
