Quake Live will become a standalone game

I guess you guys already know, but still why not talk about it here?

According to developers, Quake Live will become a standalone game some time around the end of this year 2013. I like this, it was about time to leave the web-browser platform constraints behind; bad news for some of us is that they'll drop support for Linux and Mac. Oh well. Anyways, I stopped playing long ago because of the screwed-up tiering system in the game matching me up with highly skilled players while I was clearly NOT even near their level which ended up with me being killed seconds after spawning on any game. But that's another story...

I see it as a move to fight adblock extensions/plugins.

Shame they're scrapping multiplatform support (which is strongly a part of id software's reputation) but that's expected to be coming from Zenimax(imizeprofitsandextinguishcompanies)

I stopped playing during Beta. The mandatory training level was functionally broken... didn't bother since, since it's the kind of bug a pre-Alpha should've caught.
