improved ioq3 - beta version available:
I posted the slugs and rockets mod on the Quake3world forum and UglyFoot picked it up.
We teamed up to make an ioquake3 version of this mod.

Now several months later we are happy to release a beta.

I'd be more impressed if somebody made a mod replacing weapons or powerups with vehicles you can enter and leave such as cars, tanks and maybe even planes. Of course, it would really just work for larger maps but if you were to make a mod like that, I would download it without hesitation!

Of course you would.
You could also buy Enemy Territory or UT 20xx.

I don't know much about coding but ever since the release of q3 the rocketlauncher and the railgun are my favorite. Over the years i've never come across that was just about a mod combining these two.
btw. In team games the redteam plays with the rl and the blueteam get the rl, this can be switch off (in the menu) so everybody get the rl or rg by random at respawn (as in ffa).

Great idea! I started making a map with two teams last year. One spawns with Rails, the other with rockets... but I never finished it.

This was inspired by a map I made in 1998 for Half-Life call "The Bunker", which is a two player map. One player spawns with a Crossbow (in the open area), the other with the Rocket-launcher (in the bunker).

Anyway - it was a lot of fun and very fast. Here is a link to the map: tig.onemoremonkey....fe/tig_bunk.php

I'm flat out at the moment (again!), but I'm very keen to check out the mod.

For me it started also with a map i build.
It was a smash map like the ones from requiem, too small for weapon/item pick-ups...
So you had to spawn with a weapon in the map.
The rl and the rg are both my long time favorites so i used those.
I couldn't choose so i doubled all spawnpoints, one set for the rl and one for the rg.
So you couldn't know if the opponent had the rl or the rg.
I liked it a lot.
So i started the mod, there a few adjustments to the bot behaviour so the handle things better.
I only play against bots so this was important for me.
Unfortunatly i lost the source-code, so this version is 'final'.
Perhaps i start from scratch again but i'm no coder... so it took me a couple of years to build it correctly ;)

This is a really cool, simple mod. It works great! I had heaps of fun with it on some custom maps and the original maps.

The health regen is perfect for DM and the option to switch it off for TeamDM is great. I really like how you added the the CVARs to switch a few options on and off. This is perfect for this kind of mod.

I do think it could be packaged a little better; a "folder", a "description.txt" - that would be about all.

A really fun mod and I'm really glad I found the time to play it. (I should have been working!)

I adjusted the folder structure and added a decription.txt like you said. :)

It's harder than normal game :D I had troubles with Phobos which has Railgun as favourite weapon :)

Ah, thanks i tried to make the bots tougher.
Also in general with healthRegen on, the bots retreat on low health while if the option is set off they remain aggressive...
