The objective of this map (straight from the readme): Build a level with strong DM6 theme and recognizable elements, but a completely new layout. That is what we have and it is a perfect description of this release. A nice idea too.
Visually, the level could have slotted into the base game and the only thing you would notice is the crisp shadows thanks to the updated build tools. The Foo has used multiple bright lights to generate complex shadows instead of a single Sun. This really helps to break up the long spans of repeated texturing.
With the right balance of players or bots, the action moves around the map. Some of the areas seem long until an opponent turns up, then another. The sparseness of the area quickly becomes the focus of the action and everything falls into place. Once you learn the layout and key item spots, you can quickly pick up a number of items with only a basic rocketjump. Rewarding risk is always welcomed. Bot navigation is problem free.
A great release that sits perfectly with the official maps, yet feels fresh at the same time.
