================================================================================ * LEVEL INFORMATION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TITLE : Dead Simple FILENAME : deadsmpl.pk3 (deadsmpl.bsp, *.aas, *.txt) AUTHOR : David "Rize" Trammell DATE : 03/06/2000 GAME : Quake 3 Arena TYPE : DeathMatch free for all EMAIL ADDRESS : **email removed** HOMEPAGE URL : 3dmr.gamedesign.net -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * LEVEL DESCRIPTION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This very small map started out as a way for me to get familiar with the Q3A editing tools. As it turns out, it's a fun map although small. The action on this map is very fast and it can get quite messy if there are more than 4 players present. Weapons : 1 rocket launcher 1 railgun 1 shotguns 1 grenade launcher 3 ammo boxes for each weapon Items : 1 yellow armor 1 regeneration 1 haste 1 medkit (holdable) 4 large healths 8 normal healths 1 quad damage Features: 4 bounce pads 4 launch pads 1 pit of hell fog -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEATHMATCH : 8 Player Respawn Points SUGGESTED GAMEPLAY : Free for all (4 players) NEW TEXTURES : No NEW SOUNDS : No MUSIC TRACK : sonic2.wav -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * PLAY INSTRUCTIONS * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open the deadsmpl.zip file with an unzipping program (such as "Winzip") and extract "deadsmpl.pk3" into "C:\Quake3\baseq3\" (substitute "C:\Quake3\" for whatever your Quake3 directory is). 1. Load Quake3. 2. Click "Singleplayer" 3. Select "Skirmish" 4. Select the type of game you want to play (Free For All or Tournament) from the Gameplay field. 5. Next, click the right arrow button on your screen until you see "deadsmpl". Click on it and hit the "Next" button. 6. Select the bots you wish to play (if you are unsatisfied with the default bots) and select a difficulty level. Select a timelimit or fraglimit if you want one and once everything is to your liking, click on the "FIGHT" button. 7. Enjoy! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * CONSTRUCTION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAP BASE : Built from scratch PREFABS USED : None EDITOR(S) USED : Q3Radiant CONSTRUCTION TIME : A few days hehe... COMPILE MACHINE : PII 450 w/ 256MB RAM BSP TIME : a few seconds VIS TIME : not much longer LIGHT TIME : a few minutes AAS TIME : 10 seconds or so -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * OTHER LEVELS BY THE AUTHOR * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quad God Lite for TFC Find it in the graduates section of info_beta. info.gamedesi...ads/quadlite.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The r_speeds arn't bad on this map but there is that pit of fog... so depending on the capabilities of your hardware you may experience some slowdown. On my system (PIII450 TNT) the map ran just fine w/ 5 players. It can get a bit cramped with more people though. If you play Q3A w/ the texture detail all the way up, consider dropping it one notch, it should help frame rates a lot without sacrificing much visual quality. Also, the difference between 16 and 32 bit textures isn't even noticable you should probabley turn that off too. 32 bit rendering however, is much better looking than 16 bit rendering. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * CREDITS * -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- id Software :For doing a better job w/ the tools than they had to. Not to mention the Q3radiant manuel. Quake3Mods.net :Thanks to every one responsible for the mapping tutorials.
