This is what I would call a faithful remake of the first map of Doom 2. Now while I did love this map within Doom 2, this remake with Quake 3 weapons do not really give it justice.
The author has done a really good job realizing it in the id tech 3 engine, but the problem is that Quake 3 and Doom 2 do not share the same game play aspects. The level is is crafted well, but you will never get anything but a bit of nostalgia from it. In a mod like Generations I can see this being right at home, but for Quake 3 you will get nothing but a "hay I remember this from when I was a kid, new to FPS's."
The Author has some serious talent, but unless you want a walk down memory lane, it is not worth the download. 8/10 for geometry.. but a lowly 4-5/10 for game play.

Tigs notes: Two version are included in the download. From Tabun: One version is "pure" and for real nostalgia freaks. It has (in Generations, anyway) the exact item layout that the Doom II map had. The non-pure version has different weapons, different timing on button-functions, a teamed power-up spawn and many other changes to the "pure" item layout. Geometrically and otherwise, the two versions are nearly the same.
