Mapsking Rep. 392
#16   06 Jul 2020
We played this map the other day, and personally, I liked it. The only real problem with the map is the rotating staircase. One, it feels like it should be rotating at a faster speed. Not so much to make you sick, but it definitely is too slow right now. The readme states 3-4 players, and we played with six or seven, and had some good firefights, it really did not seem to cramped to me. The second problem with the staircase is that when a player dies, or is gibbed, it blocks the staircase, and prevents it from moving. This is likely a Q3 limitation I suspect, but do not know that for sure. Perhaps this could be corrected by making more space on either side of the rotating staircase? Not sure. Either way, we had a lot of fun with it, it definitely can mess with your equilibrium, but that is the great thing about maps like this. I like the different, and abstract ones, and I think the shaders really add a cool look and feel to it, I recommend it.

@FragTastic: It must be great to have people you know who would do a LAN game with you so you don't miss out on the map since there isn't any bot support.

Haha! My thoughts on this map is ''Wtf?! There's ice towers on a bloody floater''. But since I played it, It just got me addicted to it and I cant stop playing it. Gameplay is good but needs to be improved. I suggest to add more rocket launchers to the map as well as the other weapons. 9/10.

...except I was simply judging what I saw before playing the map. Turns out the two things were nothing alike. No bot file made me sad

Actually, Brian does have a good point on this one. The screenshot made me think of Kessel Run II from Star Wars: Empire At War

This map was actually alot of fun once I managed to work out the various routes of attack.

I played a 1v1 and It did turn out to be quite strategical.

my only beef is one area where you can actually hop in behind a brush and shoot through the wall (which you can also see through) but your enemy cannot.. nor can he hurt you.... tis a great spot for a rail camper anyday.... but a risky spot to get to :)

I'm just saying if the comment is true then it should be worth the download; my suspicion is that the comment is not quite true :-)

"If this is anything like Spog's work, you have to check it out; however, there's no bot file, so I'm not bothering..."

Why are you recommending a map you have never downloaded? =)

Btw, it isn't that much like Spog's work. Just read the comments and see if the map is worth your time.

I played this one a while ago I think. I'd say to just download it for the cool looks and then delete it.

Oh, and has anyone found the 'easteregg' yet?

It would have been okay for a couple FFAs for a few people, but leaving out the .aas file was rather unkind. There is a Shotgun, Lightning Gun, and Railgun all right next to each other, and the only two defensive items (Yellow Armor and Megahealth) are very close to each other. Simply put, there is no sense of balance, including in the architecture...

There are better FFA maps out there, but it looks "neat."

Despite what the reviewer thinks, roquefort 0wnz. Very, very nice. And zippie says:
