Very interesting design here. An early indication of AEon's talent and what was to come (and came!). Yet, it does not compare with his later work (and gameplay is average). I think this map is an unpolished diamond and would be intriguing to know how the later AEon would have reworked this map. I'm sure something much better would have resulted. We will never know.

architecturally very interesting and worth roaming around in. I agree with Tig about the sci-fi feel. Budget sci-fi (and one can add Aeon Flux to the mix)often utilised brutalist architecture for their set locations and Brasilia appears to be full of brutalist architecture. So I think this is the connection here.

Hi <|3FG20K>,

thanx :)...

you are right about the testing... after serveral long weeks of mapping one never really gets around to doing all the multiplayer testing... i did do some with friends... but nothing like an all out LAN test :)

Whilst the map should have had some more testing in playability, this is one of the more original Q3A maps out there that remind me that there are plenty of ways to make a successful atomosphere. Good job on this map.

The two maps that where now tested are months old by the way (i think even half a year)... as it may be i am happy that finally at least some folks test them... :))

Funny that this map reminds you folks of Buck Rogers and the like.

Personally i would love to see more maps with such a SF feel to it. Like Captain Future or cartoons of that sort. Even though the design may not really sever a purpose, it looks cool.

About the textures... you are right, it's a knee jerk nag with me, to be lazy when it comes to picking textures. The original Brasilia architecture is concrete walls all the way, so i felt it would be ok to go for the low texture count design ;)

Nice one. Works almost fine in my pc, have to buy more RAM :)

Yeah, architecture reminds me of Buck Rogers and some of Star Trek (the original series). Engage!

interesting layout and level structure (e.g. the lava sea) but too simple texturing; only a 7 from me :|

Once Doom (or what ever its going to be called) is out I'm sure everything will run really well :]

True about the internal lava being covered up but of the games I played on this one we where trying to knocked each other into the lava with rockets.

Battle Star Galactica, Buck Rogers and the 60-70's version Star Trek is what I see when I look at the architecture. A quick search on google for Brasilia may heap to educate me however :]

Hi,

>The architecture and environment is reminiscent of a B-Grade Sci-Fi film,

>maybe its the repetitive use of simple shapes.

actually these are design elements of the architecture found in Brazil

capital Brasilia. B-Grade Sci-Fi is pretty way off ;)

>A lot of the action is horizontal and mostly taken up with staying out of

>the lava.

not really... all the "internal" lava is covered up... so you mainly you fall

out... and again this is a matter of skill :)

personally i would recommend the download just for the look see feel of it.

it's a style never seen before and therefore... naturally this pushed the

r_speeds pretty hard are that high... by the way most team arena maps have

higher r_speeds than this map (in case this means anything to gamers).

i bet the map will run really well once we have doom3 specific hardware ;))
