Thanks, will look into it at some point. As for the School map, I'd still like to take a look at it, as some sort of a form of practice at decompiling and models extracting process, simply because of the amount of details that's in this map.

Also, as a side note, I haven't heard a lot of people to mention this, maybe not many people really know where this map originally comes from. This is the author's middle school, located in a village called Zastávka, near Brno (Southern Moravia, Czechia). Author is Czech, and if you look into the files inside the pk3, you will notice a bunch of the filenames are in Czech language, or more specifically a Moravian dialect of the Czech language. Maxell never intended this map to be a serious project, more like a sort of an inside joke among his friends. He released the map as a beta version to the public, just to see how everyone will react. Pretty much all of the responses were positive, and everyone admired the amount of details in the map. Locals or abroad players alike.

EDIT: I can see that SCORN released the maps under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 Unported License. (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) - unfortunately that doesn't really correspond with the "free to modify". While yes, you may be free to modify it, you are, legally, not allowed to redistribute it in its modified state, and you're not allowed to be paid for it. Which both are frankly quite problematic for me, since I'd like to share my work, even if it's a derivative, and because I've got a Patreon, that would also mean I'd be violating that "NC" part as well. So am I allowed to make modifications, share it, and perhaps expect someone to chime in a dime? Or do I stick to a legal binding license?

If you'd like to edit a cool map, check out this one: gamebanana.com/mods/380539 . Scorn wrote in the description that editing is allowed. Maybe try adding bots and some of your own work. I'd love to play and check it out (:

very cool map, especially for exploring and looking around for easter eggs. besides the one mentioned by gooball, there's a another cool one a bit hard to find upstairs in the computer room involving the adjacent door (hint); the basketball hoops, and, more? :-) now back to class to watch, i believe, the old 1922 b&w dracula movie clip from: nosferatu :-)

I wanted to finish the map, get it out of the "beta" stage (fix a few bugs that I've seen during the gameplay), add bots support to it, and get it released in its "finished" state (of course under Maxell's name). Never got to do it, unfortunately. Honestly, I've got myself into hot waters by constant procrastination multiple times, and I haven't really had time to do anything for fun recently. This map always bugged me that it's been forever unfinished and still in beta. Well, it's time to treat it as abandonware now. I've tried to contact the author about finishing it for him, I've found his Linked In profile and sent him a message. He never replied. Apparently, he's fully moved on in his life and it's unlikely he'll ever return back. There's still hope for it tho. He's still managing his own websites, and I've noticed thanks to Wayback Machine. For years, his "About Me" page said he's been working for Bohemia Interactive. Well, in 2020-ish, his "About Me" page has changed, and now it reads he's working as a freelancer on an unannounced project. That means he's opened his own bussiness. But the fact he's still managed the websites, kept it online, and even updated the "About Me" page to reflect a current status kinda gives us hope that Maxell returns one day.

P.S. - for those who don't know, Martin Pezlar, as he's known as as well, was arrested in 2013-ish by the Greek military police for an alleged espionage, together with his colleague. They've been on vacation, and they've been taking pictures at some Greek islands, for an inspiration for their then upcoming game for Bohemia Interactive. Apparently, they've got too close to a secret military base, and were arrested and charged for espionage. They've been imprisoned for like 14 days or so. Their return back home was reported in local media. Honestly, I wouldn't want this to happen to me.

Wow! This map rocked my world when I first played it. Granted, everything seemed cooler back then, but man. Every nook and cranny is just dripping with atmosphere. That flying saucer easter egg still blows my mind to this day.

Obviously gameplay is not the focus here, though I imagine this would have been pretty fun to mess around in with friends over LAN or something. Really it's more of a testament to what can be achieved with an ancient game engine fostered by a good sense of art direction and technical skills.

This map certainly stuck with me over the years and has probably influenced me in ways I'm not even sure of.

I've got this map long ago, I thought it was already here (maybe it was on the map queue?).

Great one, as usual with these reality/urban maps, may not be good for the usual Q3 playing, but fragging in a realistic environment has got its own charm.

Of course, rules change; it will be like hunting down your foes while they're hunting you down and anyone can show up from around the corner at any time and the fastest one will remain standing.
Kind of an Alien vs. Predator thing :D
