On the 15th of January 2023 (with the video dropped on the 17th of January 2023) a professional Quake Champions' Quake Pro League player Raisy established a NEW WORLD RECORD in Quake III Arena on the Nightmare! difficulty with no deaths in 39:22! 🔥

Despite of some of the settings, mentioned in the description of the YouTube video with the run, changed for more comfortable and progressive run, it stays a REALLY impressive achievement, in my opinion.

I'm truly glad to see that after more than 20 years people still improve their skill in the game and accomplish higher and higher goals ✊ The history is being made! 🙌

@Geniraul - Wow, pretty impressive stuff. Knowing all the spawn points and bot patterns seems to be super important in getting that time.

Might have been sub 40min, but just how many games and hours of practice to reach that :)

@Tig - Absolutely. At the same time it's quite reflectory for QPL players to shoot straight to spawning places thanks to all the experience, so this skill at some point could have been transferred from QC ;)

I remember Raisy catching opponents with rails in the lower tunnel on QC's DM6 right after they spawned. I think id Software even had to decrease the probability of spawning down there because of these particular case series, hahah)

In his very first deathless Nightmare! run video Raisy stated that it took him 287 tries, so yes, it definitely required quite some time and work, ahah)

Btw, Raisy's just dropped another world record video, only couple of hours ago. This time it's not deathless, but it is also on the Nightmare! difficulty in 34:17.99 with loads and 33:40.39 without loads, and the run is dated by January 22, 2023:

UPDATE B:

I'm not precisely sure what's going on, yet, as I joined today's Raisy's stream close to its end, during the last run, while he was on Q3DM13, but here is how I personally understood that.

Raisy established another world record on the Nightmare! difficulty in the new category — "No jumps". I might be wrong, but I think he managed to do the run in 36:33 LRT (not sure about hundredths of seconds). And then he improved on the same stream, and made it 36:27.99 LRT and 37:07.88 RTA.

EDIT: I went back to watch the recorded stream, and here is the story: Raisy uploaded on YouTube an unlisted video with the first run in 36:33.60 in the No Jump category on the 31st of January 2023.

Then yesterday (CET), on the 2023.03.02, he managed to break his own record, making the new run done in 36:27.99 LRT and 37:07.88 RTA.

Additional info:
Raisy's currently keeping the world records for all the 26 Quake 3 main campaign levels.

I truly don't understand people who keep saying something like: "Oh, well done, bro! Been always dying to see a pro Quake player beating bots..." It's called a speedrun. Tournaments have always been the highlight of the program because they are multiplayer orientated, and that's what makes an arena shooter keep living. However, this doesn't mean that speedruns in Quake 3 have no value, claiming otherwise is a nonsense. The world records are being brought and broken here, and the history of speedrunning is being made. It's still the inside-AFPS thing. Just like it is in single-player games, such as Quake, Doom, Doom 2, Super Mario etc. It's not because Q3 is an arena shooter that it isn't supposed to have any speedruns to be done, since the game has the main single-player campaign as well.

I found especially impressive the runs on DM6, TOURNEY5, DM16 and TOURNEY6, which are Raisy's world records for particular levels on the Nightmare! difficulty, so linking it here:
