I have made other maps way back in early 2010-late 2011, but they were really amateurish and not really worthy of note. (Cranky Steve material)
Note: I know this doesn't exactly have much to do with Quake III, but there aren't any subcategories for this forum so my thread is going to be a bit inconsequential. I have given up attempting to make a map for Quake 3, as It's beyond my feeble comprehension. If I ever become a member of Doomworld I will post this on their forums for more feedback.
The Hall-of-mirrors affect at the first Revenant, was that an error? It seemed out of place and confusing.
I don't remember the barrels moving when you shoot them, could I have forgotten that?
A few secrets (like at the end) are "found" but they seem like they would have been impossible to find by accident. (In the video) there is no different texture used or anything. The only other feed back I have (without playing it) is some "darkness" instead of everything being full bright would be nice to see.
Looks like fun and it is great to see people being creative.
And just for the hell of it, here are my Doom 2 wads: tig.onemoremonkey.com/doom2/ - these are from some time in the late 90s :]
The secret area with the Double-Barreled Shotgun was intended to be hard-to-find, as it is somewhat superfluous to have at that point and people who would be hugging the walls looking for secrets could find it. It was supposed to have the "secret area" message popup, but it didn't work for some reason.
I was first testing this map in Skulltag when I made it back in 2012, and the bars at 4:00 were see-through, but I didn't want you to be able to shoot through them to avoid sequence-breaking. I didn't realize this would make it impossible to see through them in ZDaemon, which is the source port I used because I know it is in windowed mode, the only way I can use Bandicam (demo) to record it. Not to mention the HOM in the Revenant's bunker wasn't there in Skulltag, but there was a really weird effect with the floor inside it.
Also I was playing on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty. The map is far more difficult on Ultra-Violence mode. Sorry about most of the map being fullbright, I'll fix that issue later. Most of my other maps didn't have that problem.
I'll try your Doom 2 maps sometime when I can. I might upload a video of another map I'm kind of proud of called Medieval Wars. Or anybody interested in playing them could just download & play them -> www.dropbox.com/sh...CyPgIoVpyFg02Ha
