Now it's been a while since I've been here but I've had this crazy idea for the Lvl World website to be supported on iOS & Android devices which can be a DLC on smartphones. I know it probably requires a lot of scripting and work but Tig, could it be possible to have an individual app which can be downloaded to smartphones for Lvl World? At least I'll be able to check updates while on the move.

I use an Android device and a iPad most days to access LvL now. Simply point the device at the website URL and the site will work.

Most of the site will also work as is on a PS3 and a Wii. My guess is a Xbox (360 and One) and a PS4 will have no issues too, but these are untested by myself.

The site has been designed that way. There is no need for an "app" as the browser works just fine. There is nothing that I could offer (that I can think of) to dedicated app that would be better than what the site already has.

Try it, and if you have an issue let me know so I can fix it :]

@Tig: That is the easiest option of course and looks like we don't have a choice really.

Maybe I'm missing something. What did you have in mind or what do think an "app" should or could offer?

Are you thinking about an offline app? If so, that would not be practical as the app would be huge in size (the screenshots would make the app about 800MB to install) and then you have the issues of updates and comments etc.

I could make a basic web-based app like a lot of sites have done, but up until now I had not seen the point as these kind of apps simply point to a URL and use a "web view" (which is just a wrapper for the browser). Happy to look into that, if that is the kind of app you are after. BTW, you can just add a bookmark (for the site) to the home screen and have the same thing - that is what I do :]

What i mean by 'App' is a simple way to chekc out maps on the go like it can be mobile supported not only on computer format/URL. Do you get what I'm trying to say here Tig like the website could have on-the-move access where ever the users are and can also send reviews via Mobile.

It sounds like you want to access ..::LvL on your device without an internet connection? That would be an offline app or a stand alone app, which is not going to happen (see my earlier response for why).

However, I have been playing around a little since your original post with the site as a web app and I do think the site should work better on smaller screens. I also think some kind of web app (which means a network connection is required) could happen. If the web app does go ahead, it would be a simple app to start with and if it is popular, I'll look to expand the features.
