Saw a link to this a while back but only just got round to looking at it. I found all the maps fun to play. They are a bit underdone graphically, but then again from the readme included with the pk3, you gotta remember that this came out well over 12 months ago, actually nearly 18 !!. I think this must have been the first map pack to appear for quake 3.

Overall, good clean fun.. I hope the authors make some new levels as we are having a total blast with these.

heya peoples, make no mistake , i appreciate all the comments , good or bad. It's cool to know some people ended up playing the maps.

SIC-deth.... Your changes are easily do-able and I'd be happy to implement them for you. Send me an email letting me know you are still interested and I will do it.

re item placement, you are right, it's not my strongest asset =)

Not bad, all good fun to play on LAN.

I agree with MiSeRy, evry1 has a diff opinion on what makes a good level, and evry1 is a critic :)

ok... i liked the 2nd and 3rd maps, but the 1st and arcarena just sucked.

i have some suggestions about how i would make the 2nd and 3rd one better, even though the mapper probly isnt lookin to vhange it around.

2nd map::

1)add +5 healths along the waterway, so people actually have a reason to take that way.

2)move the shotgun to the middle of the map on the big circle.

3)put the plasma gun were the SG is, its too close to the RL right now.

4)take out the railgun.

5)make the +50 health in the main room 2 +25s in opposite corners.

6)replace slugs with 2 shells

3rd map::

1)put a +25 in the room with the fire behind bars.

2)get rid of the plasma room.

3)put plasma on top level of fire room, in between the two pillars.

4)put megahealth instead of invis.

5)put invis outside, or in the place of the RA

6)take out the railgun

7)replace slugs with shells

8)add plasma cells to the outside.

in the 1st map, it would help if u took out the GL and the RG from those pillars, cuz the bots keep tryin to get em and cant get back up.

well, the 2nd and 3rd maps are good to play in as is, but i think my suggestions would make it even better. krusty is a good mapper but he is horrible at placement.

1st map (4)

2nd map (7)

3rd map (6)

4th map (3)

Played this one a few months back, liked it then, still like it now. Most levels 3 months ago were crap, these were pretty good. The Big map is great for 6 or more players, it plays fast, and looks pretty good. And the smaller ones are a blast with 4 players.

Bot support in maps seems to be a bit af a contensious issue, believe me it depends on what skill level you play them on.(Nitemare is the only way ! )

And it just goes to show that different people have different ideas about what makes a good level.

All in all a good effort, especially for a first attempt. Hope to see some more in the future.

Yeah I've only tried Arcarena and Karena1 (Dad booted me off comp after looong amounts of time spent playing WFA) but Arcarena was definitely worse imho.

It was just to big for one thing, at least with bots because they stuck to just one area (near the haste room and the rooms on other side only). If you spawned far away you'd lose the lead (or fall more behind) while heading for the action.

Also that YA armor area was pointless!! Seriously it's like someone tacked it on for no apparent reason, especially as bots didn't touch it.

Seeing the bottom of the red fog was a lttle weird in Karena1 (maybe it's the same in other Karenas have yet to play them). The RG was well placed, it's a wanted weapon in tourney. GL was a little weird but by putting the GL closer to the RL and the RG closer to the PG it evened out some (i.e. the RG is better than GL but RL is better than PG)

How many shortforms can you use in one setence boys and girls? =)

Expect more comments once I can grab some more Q3A time!

Cool levels for a first attempt, especially as they are 3 or 4 months old

The large level needs 5+ players, and bots work well

Did you read my previous post Dagwit. I agree what you say. I wish the original layout was kept. The railgun was where the YA is now and the shotgun closer to the Castle entrance. was much better. I emailed Arcane about it when it was changed and he said that the change of position was requested by serveral people... i still wish it hadnt been changed.

A couple of points about Arcarena.

First, I couldn't see that the long haul across the lava courtyard for just a shotgun and YA was worth it when a hop, skip and a jump in the opposite direction would take me to a RL and a megahealth.

Second, I notice that the layout of the room at the other end of the map is borrowed from the RA jump room of Q3DM12.

i've been waiting for this pack to appear here for ages, just to see what others think. I actually dd/l the initial version and liked the layout a little better. The update, this version ) made a few changes that people has asked for... good to see mappers taking notice of advice. Krusy's map's, especially Karena1 and Karena2 are cool for 1 on 1, and absolute mayhem with 4 or 5 I like Karena1 the best.

Arcarena is still great fun to play. we mainly have 7 or 8 players on the level, and it totally rocks with that number. Even though it's a big level, it plays fast, and there's good access to all areas. I agree with the lava area a bit, but the original version had the Railgun at the far end on the pillar, more incentive to go down there... Back in February when the Tier was released, the levels were awesome, still great fun to play today, but as Arcane said, the quality of maps has improved... I'd still recommend the TasTier, just make sure you play with 7 or 8 players on Arcarena.. it is atotal blast !!!

Overall a score of 8, mainly cos it absolutly rocked 4 months ago

Krusty maps:

Yeah, seeing the bottom of the fog of death just doesn't make much sense. I was expecting that I'd be allowed to roam down there, but I guess I can't.

Too bland, and having the RJs didn't help.

Score: 4

Arcane level:

I liked this level better than the other three, but it feels kinda linear. There wasn't really enough running room in the pointless lava arena, and the haste "bounce pad" was a little confusing.

The gameflow seemed to be the biggest problem here. Try using smaller rooms in general, and you should see some serious improvement.

Score: 6+

Avg: 5-

1v1 maps were a lot of fun on nightmare.. heh

i didn't think the large map was anything special though. original maps are the best always, and a large field of lava is not very original. also, it's not as satisfying to die in a void when you can see the bottom

Nice to finally see the Tier in LvL.... It was originally released over 3 months ago... was happy with it at the time, the quality of releases has improved considerably since then, so I guess now it does show its age... Was a good experience tho... Hope you all enjoy the maps !!!
