Blood Run by ztn has seen its fair share of remakes over the years, with the stunning adaptation in Quake Champions being one of the best from a visual perspective. This remake uses the map Sinister from Quake Live as an inspiration to offer a fresh perspective on the original map. Seeing how impressive Sinister looks and plays, it is easy to understand why that particular theme was chosen.

The updated visuals immediately draw your attention. However, the longer you play, the more you notice how the environment lacks details. It comes off as a bit bland, while there is so much more you can do with this theme. There are also some weird additions like a floating Quake logo in the sky.

Most Blood Run remakes know better than to mess with the original layout, item placement and gameplay. This remake however, has some questionable changes. In the original you could easily jump from the railing of the stairs to the Quad, but this is now obstructed by a pillar. Also, instead of making the jump to the RA, there are now wooden boards added so that you can easily reach it.

Last but not least, the jumppad area near the PG has been changed. The stair is cut off making it more difficult to get out of that area. A Shot Gun is added, but that is not enough of a reward to get stuck there if you are coming in from below. Overall I like the direction of this remake, but its execution fails to deliver a worthy alternative.
