A quad in the center would have made things much more interesting. Great map for capturestrike as long as people dont use the railgun

Sorry for interrupting, I like this map, can we make the bases smaller and the middle bigger :)

BTW, Keshian, here's the list of maps on the short list for the custom division...

coralctf - Coral CTF
halctf4b - An Iteration of Hell
jlctf1 - Grazer Station
quartzctf1 - Cast into Shadows
riscq3ctf1 -Smear Campaign

www.captured.com/bannockburn/custom

The ogl maps will also be legal maps, as they are in most other leagues.

If we do decide to use it, this is for a seperate division of the bctfl..you won't be seeing it in the main league. Right now this map is on the list for season 5 in the custom map division (it's a new idea). I'll bring up your concerns to the others, and maybe we'll remove it. The pack is too big already anyways :)

Glock, this map needs some reworking before I would even consider it in bctfl or other serious play. In McKinley you still had an open middle area where you were a sitting duck and this is where the escorting/cut offs happen. The only map that I can think of that has worked that has avoided this setup is japanctf in which you don't really have a central cut off. However, I think that if you cut the base length by about 1/2 you still have a large multi-tiered base area and then you would need to open up the middle where the rl is so that you can have some good rumbles in the middle fighiting over the rl and securing the middle etc

My initial reaction to the comments about the big base reminds me of q2ctf1 mckinley.. big base, and kinda hard to get out of. The same thing applies to q3wctf1, Bloodlust.. yes I think it could be better.. but still a good map.

I'm the bctfl guy, what do yall think of playing this map competitively? I certainly respect keshian's inputs, yall want to try it next season?

What's a "big-open-area-with-walkways sort of tradition," JL?

Guess I'll have to dl to find out? ;)

Hey keshian, there's a thread by a BCTFL guy on the Quake3World CTF forum asking about custom map opinions for the next season... drop by mb.

My first knee jerk reaction is that its a good map..however. You need to shrink the base by about 1/2 as long and make a good melee area in the middle and have 2 rl's one just outside of each base..however that might make it too easy for new spawns to attack with strenth. My only other concerns is basic flow. I'm not sure how well play is going to take place throughout the middle of the map where theoretically most of the game is played. There is just way too much room in the central bases esp is your up against good railers your so screwed. Maybe mix up the regens with a haste. Attacking in pairs or otherwise is going to be hard in that the whole point is to attack in force and remove the defenders...but with such a VAST area they can see you coming a mile away and its simply a long range battle with close range weaponry .(ss/pg/random rl from attackers or if you dare to run out and try and snag a rg) /me waits for next release.

Nice base design in the big-open-area-with-walkways sort of tradition; it's a real fight to get the flag out against dedicated defenders (not saying that's a bad thing). The center area feels a bit abbreviated in comparison. The map's texturing makes for high player visibility, which is very welcome. All in all quite a solid map -- wish I could play it against human opponents so I could say more. :-) Should definitely be one of the better ones out there, anyway. Thumbs up.
