Ktulu is a great song, amen to that!

Metallica's song name wasn't a spelling mistake - they didn't want to get involved in what might have been a copyright violation with Cthulhu - hence Ktulu.

RiO and Tigger: sorry, one more comment..

Steinecke: i know exactly what you mean, i'm russian myself. but regardless of whether lovecraft insinuated things in his writing or not, his books are considered international classics and should not be dismissed as racist filth. i do not believe that ideas of hate were present in lovecraft's published work, in any case. as for his letters, i frankly do not know lovecraft's personal opinions, nor do i care much for them. the books were not affected in any way.

you have your opinion, steinecke, and i have mine. no hard feelings intended.

You're right, RiO.

To 'magatsu: Read those books with open eyes! There are a few letters by Lovecraft, containing the same stuff about evil bastards coming from Africa and Asia. In the books they are used as some kind of Orcs, bringing Death and Destruction. To be a foreigner (= not anglosaxon) is the same thing than being an murderous alien. This is written down reapitedly and clearly in many of Lovecrafts uninspired and boring sentences. He ( Lovecraft) was a fan of the Arian idea. I'm a German; in this country we have seen, how those sick fascist ideas bring absoloute destruction... and SHAME.

Far be it for me to critise, well, everyone - but I will anyway :'

Aren't the ..::LvL forums for commenting about the MAP as opposed to running conversations about books and Metallica songs? You use the forums for that, kids: If you don't know one I can set one up!

Anyway, I thought the map was average: a bit cramped and not tourney, but the Item place isn't as bad as Tig makes out.

6/10

OK! For all of you who have problems with the spelling:

This map-name is based on the songname "The Call of Ktulu" (the best instrumental song ever) by Metallica, and so I've written it with "K"!

  1. The scale:
The scale was intentional, this map should be small and have narrow parts. I like the way it is and how it plays: fast and bloody!

To Ugh: The spelling is here "Guillotine"

I guess the replacement of the quad with the rocketlauncher would be a good idea. But I love the way this map is 'cramped'.

It plays like a UT level (and I unfortunately don't mean that as a compliment). It's just WAY too tight. So much so that the scale just feels wrong. If the whole map were just scaled up a bit it would be much better. The lighting is also very, very blah looking. Looks almost full bright in places.

Sorry but I just couldn't find much to like about this map aside from the cool guilletine (spelling?).

To 'not entered': H.P.Lovecraft was a paranoid and a racist, who believed in brainless theories off ' white mans superiority' and the 'inferiority' of black and asian people.

Good lookin' - good playing. Bots really ok... except one pad, wich seems a little difficult to them (only minor problem).

Two things:

I liked the megahealth placement as well, and in the 2nd paragraph "of-setting" is meant to be "off-setting"

Don't really have an opinion on the song (I've heard it) and the map is good. And yes, I am going to give you some thoughts to work from Rob =)

First of all: Most things were good in this level, felt absolutely right. First big thing I thought of: The regen is somehow..wrong feeling to me. Either put a weapon there (which might be hard, most desirable ones have been well placed elsewhere) or put the bodysuit instead. I think that would do a better job of of-setting quad damage oponnents. ;)

Quad placement was great. At first glance, it was in RL room with a tele to lots of armor. WHOOPS! But in-game, the RL being so nearby the quad (quad is in a tight little area...and no I'm not trying to be innuendic here =P) means someone can grab the RL and shoot the one of the area's walls and get the quad whore! Hehe.

Gl was surprisingly useful. The bots actually got the under the floor area (I was surprised by that) but that area could be taken out if you ask me. They did centre around one room bit, but not before they loaded themselves up with weapons and the RA was in the room they liked so it played fine (perhaps even better than it would have).

No offense to anyone, but 1on1? Not here, not even minus the powerups. Keep it FFA it's already great for that =)

8 outa 10 (8.5 but poor us no .5 allowed)

Is entitled after a book by paranoid horror/fantasy-writer Howard P. Lovecraft. More correct is 'Cthulhu', if I remember exactly.
