Above & Beyond

RCFQ3DM4 (2-3 players, 3 preferred) is what you might call a gothic spacemap. Instead of black space all round you have a lava floor, stone walls and a mean red killsky. Essentially it has the same feel as a spacemap but in a gothic setting. The map is a box with three buildings you can go into and stand on top of as well as a big tower and a superstructure over the main building. Navigation is mainly on jumppads like in most spacemaps and with a teleporter that switches between two spiked towers. The towers are good for railcamping and each holds a personal teleporter for a quick getaway. The quad is located behind the big tower on one of the spiked towers and requires a rocket jump to reach it. Gameplay is fast and the map might feel a bit large for only two players since there is constant movement between areas.

RCFQ3DM4A (2-3 players), SEE YOU IN HELL, is an identical high speed version of rcfq3dm4. High speed in that the BFG replaces the railgun. Framerate on the other takes a hit since the lava has been replaced with hellfog. This lowers performance somewhat by taking 8-10 fps off the framerate(at least on my machine). Personally I think this version both looks better and is far more fun. On the other hand the first version can be played on lowend machines and may seem a bit more fair in the weapon balance area.

RCFQ3DM4CTF (6 players, 3vs 3) is a mirrored combination of DM4 and DM4a. The map has hellfog like DM4a but no BFG. Weapons consist of a railgun, rocket launcher and plasmagun. The flag is located on the superstructure where the railgun/BFG is found in the other maps. The flag teleporter has been redirected to the big tower to try and extend the distance the flagcarrier has to run and to increase the defenders chances. The redarmor and megahealth can be found inside the small buildings, on top of which the jumppads to the teleporters leading to the other arena also reside. The quad has been removed since nobody went for it anyway. Of the three I think this map is the most fun to play and if I do say so myself is a rather unique CTF experience.

Bugs : They`re not really bugs but anyway. First off the bots don`t go for the quad which isn`t suprising since it requires a rocket jump. Second if you teleport to one of the spiked towers or go for the quad and turn around looking down where the wall meets the sky you can see the hall of mirrors effect. Since it`s only seen if you look for it and doesn`t effect gameplay visually I chose to ignore trying to fix it.
