Wow! Massive! Such a well connected, intensive, confrontational map! FFA or 1v1, this is a top map!! I recommend it to be featured!

This map is a real power up tease. Although it can be reached easily enough by a rocket jump you will want the red armour and a sizeable amount of health to get to it otherwise you are going to be left vulnerable and exposed for fragging. Therein lies the challenge. As the map is sparse on health and the RA is set in a corner you will be a sitting duck if you try and grab it. The openness of the map and teleporter below means you will rarely be left alone long enough to pull off a clean sweep of the board. This means for alot of open area duke outs and with more than 2 players your success will lie in not becoming piggy in the middle but taking players out from the fringes of battle - hence the maps title.

I just checked at the Wayback Machine and can't find a download for the texture pack there either. All he ever apparently had were a) downloads of q3a levels and b) individual textures displayed on the web page. No zipped texture pack in conveniently installable form. The closest he comes is the q3a levels that use the textures, from whose paks subsets could presumably be extracted. Not exactly ideal...

You will need to use the Way Back Machine - web.archive.org/we...p://badmeat.com - to view the older site from about 2002.

I'll email Pete and see if there is a direct link.

I can't actually find anywhere at badmeat.com to download the Meatpak textures. I can right-click and save-as about eight of them that are displayed on a couple of pages, and that's about it, but from the screenshot of this map it looks like there are more textures than just those eight...

Awesome level!! I didn't really like your last level unitool(sorry), but this level is just sweet. It's about all I have been playing lately. 1v1, FFA, team games, they are all good.

I know you probably won't read this unitool, but this is the best map I have ever played. I can't stop playing it, congrats on it getting picked for Top Dawg, I love you work. Keep making quality maps.

I give it an 11.

Oh bugger, I can't!

Scale??? HELLO?

What is it with these maps that have scale off by 50% or more? Does each jumppad need to fit 3 pregnant elefants at once or what?

Player movement feels slower than it already does because of it, and if you play this map vs a good railer then its game over... you can most of the time keep distance such that other weapons are ineffective.

textures make it look fresh, and the layout is cool, congrats on that at least.

it's easy enough to explain...
first, rj up to one of those ledges where you trigger the timmy wav files, the just rj over to the regen.

Double rj to get regen seemed like a fair trade off, and good luck getting to the regen while you're playing! ;)

I have a demo on my page showing how to grab the regen. www.planetquake.com/unitool

as long as you're there, you might as well grab the non-fuxored version of the map. ;)

To complete my posting trifecta :-) I guess I should point out that there's another download link here: dl.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp

...which presumably is the more recent pk3.

Oh ho ho, no, "psssst" has put his finger on it. LvL must be presenting an older version of the map here. The pk3 from the LvL download is missing the 2 clangdark textures.

The more I look into this, the more odd it becomes.

I dug out the map file to double-check the texture name and path. It is a mapmedia.pk3 texture, but it's also included in unitooldm4.pk3.

the other odd thing is that this map has been reviewed at a few other places, and has had over 3K downloads from my web page, but no one had mentioned the missing texture until now.

WTH, over??

Glad you like it, tho! :)

I do not know what causes that grey patch unger the rail gun, but apparently somebody else had it happen on their rig as well...I would be happy to send/post any information specific to my setup that would be helpful in straightening this out. I do not want to take away from the fact that your map is COMPLETELY ADDICTIVE-with or without the missing textures. I just thought you would want to know about it. Let me know if I can be of any help....

I don't get it...I removed mapmedia.pk3 and renamed my texture directory, then checked the map for missing textures, and it was fine.

That's weird about you missing that texture, macdaddy. I just downloaded and checked it out (after removing mapmedia.pk3 from baseq3), and I don't come up missing any textures.... ??

I dig this map alot...it has immediately gotten itself in the regular rotation. I would give it a 9, but the tile where you pick up the railgun is screwed up (it is all greyed out). Maybe I'm missing a texture, but I thought those were all supposed to be completed in the map pk3 file...?

I don't see exactly why this level is super-significant... Of course it's a good map, but for some reason, it doesn't click...

This is a super-cool little map. I can't claim to be unbiased since I've seen and tested so many forms of it that it's a "comfort zone" by now... but the fact that I'm not tired of it yet is probably pretty significant. :-)

that's what this map is about.

at first the layout appears to be rather open, but once you know how to use it, this map a weapon all it's own!

kick ass, uni!
