If I had to hand out a Most Improved Mapper for 2001 award, it would, without hesitation, go to Charon. This talented mapper has found his calling. Inextremis sports a flashy red industrial texture set from Rorshach, and does a pretty good job at recreating a space mining facility. The visuals in this map are jaw-dropping, even if r_speeds are a little steep in areas. Three entangled atriums are the foundation of this wonderful tourney experience. Weapon balance is on for the most part, tho having the rail and RA only a jump apart is a bit of a mistake in my opinion. FFA play is intense. Bots handle this one with no problems.

This is why Charon is my favourite mapper ever.

This is a pure genius map, even if I don't think it is as good as Reassimilation (which I love to death so bad)

If you want a map to download, just look for a Charon map.

another gem from charon. i dled on other of his maps (charon3dm9) and its gotten some pretty heavy use. once again charon doesnt dissapoint.

i give it a perfect 10

Great map for 1v1, 9 from me :p. Can't see why you wouldn't like it as plays sooooo well for duel.

whoa, awesome custom look, unique in every way.

When I first played it, I thought too tight, then I played one on one and let my rail skills shine.

I haven't been a real fan of Rorshach's textures (just a personal taste) but Charon has done a great job of using them here, and this level looks great. It was tight, but I liked it tight... Definitely didn't feel it was confining, I thought it was quite enjoyable. Another great map by Charon.

Really fun map, had a hell of a time playing it. Looks great, plays great.

My only gripe: not great for tourney, imo, a bit too cramped and too rl friendly. Gets an 8, good job.

The signature 20th century clock contrasts nicely with the theme. Blood splatter blends in sooo nicely with the coor scheme!

Not my favorite charon map but all the same flawless work. It's a little tight for my playstyle but I love the theme and the textures he used.

I have had the honor of beta testing a couple charon maps and I hope I can see what he's working on currently real soon. :o)

This is a nice one. I really like the layout - it's tight and close and not RG-dominated. Rorshach is perhaps my favorite texture artist, and his textures are extremely visually stimulating. And that's regrettably the biggest problem with this map. The colors and textures, combined with the excellent brushwork are too "strong". Unless you're using r_picmip 5, it's easy to become overwhelmed by the colors and it makes it hard to see your opponent. Don't get me wrong - I love both the texturing and the brushwork. It's just a little on the "strong" side.

My favorite map from Charon. Just excellent all the way around. The layout and texturing are quite nice, and the gameplay is great. Wow. Nothing to complain about.

A 9 from me as well (and that doesn't happen very often, odd, picky bastard that I am . . .).

His latest release, Liquid Carbon, was a little disappointing. Add to that that he had to release a "patch" for it. (Arguing against the most improved thing mostly, though I agree his maps are more than good on the whole).

This one in particular was nice. A texture set that is maybe less individual than Charon's normal selections, it was at least a bit easier on the eyes (and the bots). The item placement is pretty good though health seemed to be concentrated in some areas. Over all flow was a bit restricted, with not as many ways to get up and down as there were side to side (despite the map's multiple levels). Overall, a 9 from me.

but that jump to the ra will have me back for more. its possible with one jump if your dope, like the one on q3dm7, in the main room with the ra(in team)and quad in ffa. good map but still too tight, whats up with that.. still dope.
