This architectural monster has been around for a while now, but it's nice to see it raising its mighty Gothic head once more.

Yes - it's exactly what it says on the box: a full-on reconstruction of the interior of Chartres Cathedral, and what a reconstruction it is! Beautifully built, this map oozes class from every crevice, and has bags of that 'ooh' factor that most maps lack.

While it does have bots enabled, the bot play is not anything to shout about, as the author readily admits, but if you have ever wanted a rail duel in the Middle Ages, this is definitely the map for you.

Once upon a time (i.e. in 2001), this map gained a reputation as something of a benchmark level, with a low FPS, but these days - at least for those players who have upgraded for HL2 and Doom 3 - the FPS is perfectly playable.

My one minor complaint is that the author did not recompile it with q3map2. This would have sharpened up those aliased light splashes on the floor and made the map look a little less 'old (lightmap) school'.
